You know how the oil debate goes Boss! I use Spectra oil. Amsoil for motorcycles. I don't want in that debate....lol!

Remember to go back and check to make sure relays and fuses are in place to protect the circuits.

We can revisit speedo later if ya don't figure it out.

Glad your up and running. Dogs are a little more touchy then the HD.

I also have an old EVO and Screamin Eagle.

The EVO is hands down the best build I've ever owned. I bought them both while working at MOCO.

The Dog requires a little more love when ya first get it. However, she will come around.....

Check her out good before putting her in the wind Bro......

Remember the conversation about slam button. Like I mentioned earlier, I'd use a flyback diode. Google it Bud, it's important. I put one on my old Shovel and it cured the relay saga......back in those days, they really didn't have a good grasp on electrical circuit analysis.

Open up the manuals and read the torque specs also very helpful information. Most of us run a full synthetic motor oil. Lots of good ones on the market. There are post on both primary & motor.

Hot tip:
The answers to your questions regarding speedo are in the manual posted above... (Dropbox) It goes into detail on how the speedo passes through EHC, but is not a function of EHC. ( lucky for you!)
You should take a look at that before attacking the speedo problem Bud.

I'd take a close look at grounding as well. Hopefully, your instructions with kit covered that as well. Pay close attention to grounding and circuit protection, Dogs give you no mercy! They will punish you for not being thorough!

Savage I will have to take my day off to read through all that stuff bc I looked at the 05 service manual on there quite a bit trying to find information while putting this thing back together and couldn’t find it or anything regarding the starter I needed besides that wiring schematic that so blurry u can’t hardly read it

Also I just used a quart of big twin primary lube that I got from J&P, I’m still having hard time getting this thing into neutral, always been like that.. no clutch slipping it’s just hard to find neutral while running. Also, the reason I asked about if there’s a way to check oil level is bc I could pick up a verrrrry SLIGHT noise coming from the forward cylinder/jug area and it had me concerned. First I thought might be the primary but I put my ear down there to hear over the loud exhaust on this thing and it just barely sounds like metal rubbing on metal. Not a knock, just every so slightly like maybe debris or one the rings rubbing the wrong way. Hopefully just normal and I’m being paranoid

My fill tube is in the battery box but it has a bend about 3” down where I can’t see into the tank. It has a sticker showing the oil changed late last year right before I got it, and I only ride this thing 3 short rides before it quit on me
