On hot days, yes. I carry a crushed aluminum can on high heat days to stick under the stand.Seen a Chopper on it's side that fell on 2 other bikes while parked on a Toy's for tots run...because the bike sank into the pavement.....anybody else seen / heard of this happening?.....![]()
Seriously? I have never heard of that happening. I will have to start being more careful then. I usually park it in neutral unless on a hill but I don't make a big deal out of it. I always figured the reason for the neutral parking was to keep it from jumping or taking off when started, not because the bike mysteriously starts and drives of alone.Last year after leaving mine in gear, several people came running inside the restaurant to tell me my motorcycle war running all by itself!(now on its side of course). Minor damage, but real embarrassing as it just laid there and kept cranking. Had to disconnect the battery to get it to stop.
1) clean and lube your heim joints on the linkage. My bike is extremely hard to put into neutral when it's running. After I kill the engine it's no problem get it into neutral. Anyone know what's up with that?
Yep, I carry a small square of aluminum....one thing to add I carry a side stand support thingy (plastic HD part).. you know the thing that you put under the stand when parked... one because it keeps the chrome stand from getting beat up and keeps my bike from falling.. (the stand sinking into the surface)...because the bike sank into the pavement [earth, dirt, whatever]...anybody else seen / heard of this happening?...
Same here even though the neutral light is on, just don't trust it.Even though I would swear that I always park in neutral, I am paranoid enough to pull in the clutch lever before starting. Can't hurt, and will prevent a disaster.
