Thanks, LDO. Sorry to being up more oil questions.
S'aul good Jazzy, if you decide to go with AMSOIL, you may be able to get it from one of our vendors here or Ray's contact. I think he posted a link in one of the previous pages of this thread.:2thumbs:

I know we've done the oil thing to death (Sorry Bob) but my bike noticeably (and I don't notice much!) runs better with Amsoil or Spectro than it does with Mobil 1 - I will not be using Mobil 1 again...

Good to know lee, I've always been curious if the amsoil runs better, you never see much about the stuff but the users I have known swear by the stuff.

Lee no worries.

Let me ask though, what do you mean by better? Quieter, cooler?? (serious question)...you have my interest.

I couldn't say whether it is cooler or not but it sounds more solid - definitely less noise (less valve train noise I'm guessing). I used Amsoil a couple of changes ago and then went to Mobil 1. Then down at Andy's (the bike technician I use) he said try Spectro - he swears by the stuff (he used to be a mechanic on a HD racing team and they used to go through two main bearings a season with HD oil and the other teams recommended Spectro - one bearing lasted two seasons with the Spectro). My bike runs exactly the same with Amsoil as it does with Spectro but it definitely sounds looser with Mobil 1.

I know you guys say we are killing it with the oil thread.....But....does anyone here use the Rotella T. Several mechanics that I know personally and respect (and believe me there are plenty that I know and don't respect as they don't know their ass from a hole in the ground) have really touted me to use the Rotella. One is seriously into racing and uses it in everything!
I have heard so many different opinions about the syn or no syn I don't know but I think I am going to try the Rotella. If you do any searches and reading on it, the heavy duty oils like Rotella are more suited for our type of engines. Any serious input!

thats interesting Lee....when I switched from regular oil to Mobil 1...I noticed that the Mobil 1 was quieter than the regular...but then again...I also had my rockers and heads and valve train switched out to S&S

I've also had mine switched to S&S Dave and the difference is still there between the oils. And 117, yes 20W-50 is generally the right weight but they're not all the same. I'm pretty sure Mobil 1 is thinner than the others mentioned.
