SYN OR NO

Been an Amsoil Dealer for about 7 years now. Use it in everything I own. Car, Cycle, Snowmobile, Snow Blower, Lawnmower ect. No matter what brand you can't beat synthetic. It doesn't break down from heat and it lubuicates better resulting in less wear. Always go with the manufacturers recomendation for break-in though. I am partial to Amsoil being a dealer and they were the first to introduce synthetic oils in 1972. Anyone interested can get more info at Amsiol If you do purchase I recommend becoming a "Perferred Customer" It costs $10 but allowes you to buy at dealer cost. Oh, and did I mention you will not be supporting Middle East Interests!

Ron I have seen this. I sent it to the Lucas people. Haven't heard back from them yet BUT I was at the NHRA Nationals 2 weeks ago and I asked the Lucas people directly about that. They told me, first... if the Lucas additives were in any way harmful to engines would all these NHRA and NASCAR teams be actually using the products as many of the actual pit crews told me they were. Those are high extreme horsepower engines with very close tolerances and almost every team there was running Lucas in there engines and transmissions. Not to exclude the lucas Top fuel cars and pro stock cars and Pro Stock Motorcycles which obviously use the oils and supplements in their S&S engines. So, I have faith in them. Also if you watch this demo it's about how gears are reacting to being spun and engaged with oils and Lucas supplements. Are there any gears in the bottom of our engines? As far as I know there are only bearings and a crankshaft. Also our cranks and bearings are not lying in a pool of oil but are being splashed by the oil if I have that correct. I could definitely be wrong but I think that's right. At any rate untill I see some evidence of discoloration when I drain my oil, or some other harmful effect from using Lucas then I will continue to trust this product. Every man needs to have his own take on this but that's mine
Keep in mind that what race teams "say" they run and what they actually use can be two different things, despite what the sponsor decal indicates. Lucas is a good product, as far as I know, but I don't believe in mixing it with high end oils, maybe it would be appropriate to add to cheaper oils that lack certain additives. But you're not going to make a high quality oil a "super" oil by adding something it doesn't need.

Anyone know the purpose of 'synthetic blend'? I ordered a case of Shaefers 20w50 through work. It came 20w50 synthetic blend racing formula. Thats what I've been using, seems fine. I am experiencing some noise lately I'm trying to pinpoint. Not sure if its top end or primary chain area, tension is good. Only hear it when motor is just floating or balanced with my speed, not reving up or down. kind of a tinny sound.
im having the same noise, pulled to front cover [all is good] just check the chain again, ok!
you might want to pull the primary case and check for chain rubbing inside,
or tighten chain a little. to see if that helps!
if its chain it will be in the top of the case!

I have a temp guage on my bike, and since switching to synthetic oil I have seen a temperature drop, I'd say 10-15 degrees. Not a huge amount I guess, but it's something. I've been running synthetic now for the last 5k miles and all is good. I don;t know how much difference oil really makes, hell we have 18 trucks at work, and we run some shit we get by the 50 gallon drum, the cheapest shit we can get our hands on, for the past 10 years and have never had an oil related engine failure, or any type of engine failure for that matter...

Amsoil is good stuff no doubt about that, but being first to introduce in 1972 may be right, however they were not the first to introduce synthetic. All-Proof, now known as Redline was introduced in 1971, Chevron introduce some PAO based in the 60's, and EON-Now called NEO introduced CLass V API rated in 1970.

My manual reads as follows:
"We DO NOT recommend synthetic oil".
I am doing a 2500 oil change this week, was ready to go syn, but this stopped me. What gives? is there a difference between a 2002 107 and later years?
I looked all through my 2002 manual and I do not see this statement. Where is it (page #).

Lubricants meet a certain rating that is approved for engines. It really boils down to personal preference since we change our oil every 3K anyways. In my experience with synthetics is that they generally performe better for V-twins with less noise and cooler running temps.

Copy that Fiber. Their slogan is "First In Synthetics" Where they come up with the criteria for that claim I am unsure of. Marketing, who knows? I'll have to put that question to one of the company heads and see what they say.

Amsoil is good reagardless of if they claim first or not. I guess their first claim would be depended on what criteria they use.

May be first choice among many user, first readily available through extended dealers, first with focus on regular automotive use, etc. BUt first to make a synthetic and market would be questionable.

Still good stuff

I've run AMSOIL in both my BD's from the 500 miles service. I buy it from George the "Oil Guy" on ClubChopper. A case is about $80. I'm in my second case this year!! Quick service at a good price.

I just put in amsoil. Does George ship it to you? 12 bottles to a case? I just paid $13 a quart at a bike shop. Ripped me off.

Just to make sure I have this correct, I can run the Amsoil 20w-50 syn motor oil in the engine, transmission, and the primary?
Sorry if its a stupid question, but I want to make absolutely sure.
Thanks,
