Yeah, some models not alot of coverage .
I think some models didn't produce huge numbers . And early models some are less covered .

You might try sending Mickmorris a message on here . He's pretty studious and has I belive an 02 model. Not a boxer . But he's scrubed the info turf I'm sure .

SKOGDOG

One of the old ones.
Thanks, I have seen him post seems to have good knowledge on here.

I can do most things my self but I am picky and don't want to move a kick stand to mess up the frame coating.. but Yes should cover any small chips if not perfectly clean.

I just wish I could find some good hard info on Boxers. I mean putting together info on my 04 chopper was one thing this one is like a ghost! guess big dogs back then just everything the same.
Well Mittens—guess who’s on deck to be the ‘Forum Resident Guru’ on Boxers?

So yeah. Congratulations on the purchase if I didn’t already say that on a another thread. So finding information on that bike is gonna be tough. Not that it ain’t out there. What I can tell you is that the Boxer model is just a 2000 BigDog ProSport with a new name. 2000 was the last year that the Vintage Sport (which I own) & the ProSport were available. Vintage Sport was discontinued & The ProSport was renamed the Boxer. Ruff Ruff. I do believe I may have some tech info on the ProSport/ Boxer. I’ll take a look.

So after ALot of googling and stuff trying to put together some info on Boxer models. I welcome corrections or other info.

Looks like 2001-004 was the only 4 years made?
Only Rubber mounted motor Big Dog?
01-03 have front HD style Kick stands 04 got the rear mount? (Can you swap to rear if you wanted?)
Some seem to have 18/21 wheels combos, while others have 18/18 wheels. specs show 18/18?

01-02 has Twin Tube Swing Arms, and some kinda of gauge. center tank panel.
03-04 has single tube swing arms, and a smooth tank with only a Speedo on the handle bars. (04 has split bars, 03 normal)
So Bigdog had 3 models in 2000 (not really sure about earlier) the Vintage Sport & ProSport & ProSport 18. All 3 models were rubber mounted. The other 4 models produced that year were solid mounts. The ‘01/‘02Boxer was basically a renamed BigDog ProSport. In ‘03 the Boxer switched rear swingarm & tank style and possibly other stuff like the oil bag. The 18/21 wheel combo is the ProSport. The 18/18 wheel combo is the ProSport 18. It had 18/18 and inverted 54mm forks. The Vintage Sport had 16/16 and 54mm inverted forks also. The Wolf had 18/18 & 54mm to. All other models were 41mm telescopic. Kinda funny the kickstand thing. Some models were front & some were rear. I believe the front mounted style is built into the forward controls? I would believe you could switch that to rear mounted.

SKOGDOG- haha good call at least I enjoy research and learning...

Mickmorris- I actually was wondering as the 01-02 look just like a prosport other than the rear fender. 03 brought some noticeable changes. The tank, swing arm, and rear fender, and also It looks like more rake... specs say 34 degree in frame? but that also maybe the spec for a 01.

Well come any info and thoughts from all. thanks again.

haha nice! I guess I never thought about where all BigDog had dealers. Back when they were new I was barley graduating Highschool, Harley type, choppers and stuff where not on my radar. Just cars , beer, and girls.

Well Bike was delivered Friday morning at 2:30AM. (Driver asked if I needed to wait till morning but being like I kid I said no I will wake up or stay up. Ha) So best biker buddy & my self drank & waited in garage. Good times. Fired it up & drove it down the street & back at 250am haha.

Friday cleaned the bike, chrome, paint, polished triple trees some. Checked fluids. Stator plug in case was leaking so some make a gasket there. Seems to be the main leak. Ordered black seat ASAP, will be here Wednesday. Pics are with my chopper seat as I hate the tan seat (will sell that one). Rode it Sunday, put 15 miles on it & all seemed ok. Kicks stand is bent bad & cracked.... tires are like new tread wise super old date wise & front has cracking onside walls. Dad showed up to check it out & I invited him to ride (kind of the point of having second dog, let him or brother ride & have spare toy/ project) he jumped on it. So, we rode 50 miles met up with my main riding buddies for lunch & a beer. Then to swap some parts, from another buddy's bike (chrome intake vs black spike) & back home. I put chopper up, & I took Boxer back out for a few more beers all no issues other than known ones.

Was told brake lights don't work... they did when got bike after charging battery. They stopped once riding again... loose wire, ech, who knows. Same with Left turn signal, but right works still. I Did check and status is making power once running 14.5V at battery so its making power.

Everything else seems to work fine. Low, Bright, start, stop, Running lights, and horn. I do not see any base gasket, head gasket, or rocker box gasket leaks. Trans, I think is not leaking too, if anything I may have a inner primary leak but also could be that same plug not sealed more examination today after putting 65-70 miles on it after cleaning.

Chrome wheels have some pits/peal spots but can't see from 5 foot away, Motor wise chrome is good, one spot on primary that's bubbled. Bike has more Chrome then polished vs my 04 chopper. Timing cover, calipers, Fort tubes, rims, play holder, ect all chrome.

So far I have already done the Flipped Tag bracket mod (drilled 4 holes and counter sunk screws, adjusted controls to my liking, lowered rear all the way, Swapped intakes from a Miss matched Chrome 90 and Black spike, to Chrome 90 with Chrome Flatt nose.

Today will get a set of riser Bushings on order (they are loose), check for leaks, got a new front tire on order already, and adjust belt as its looser then I would expect (never had belt driven bike), but when you lift off throttle/ down shift it chirps. Other wise makes no noise. Check wires for brake light power and stuff. Probably some Blue plug wires as the yellow is out of place.

Yes! there is no FLOP! So much better than my Buddys Nitro bike I fixed. Thats actually where I swapped the intakes from. I think the key is the 3 degree raked trees. they have what looks like the same fork lengths, and rake in the frame, but the big dog has 3-degree trees. and it does not flop. Rides fine. Feels small compared to my chopper though. Quick bike too, like a cheap sporters but way cooler.

Thank you sir. Will address some issues, then probably customize it some, delete turn signals, custom bars, and stuff.. who knows. Will probably take motor apart and polish jugs and heads like I did chopper too at some point. now it just looks dirty next to the chopper.

Thanks guys. It cleaned up ok. The tank paint is pretty bad, lots of clear scratches, and the giant fuel part thats just black now.

I will say that bad spot on tank is randomly hidden by the handlebars in person unless you strait up on top of the tank. can walk by it at a bar and not notice it all. I hit the paint areas by hand with some rubbing compound.

Got belt tightened today rode it to lunch and no more chirps when down shifting. Also, Today the left turn signal works again but still no brake lights?? weird. Trying to chase break switch plug so I can test rear brake at least I assume front is handled by the Hand controls? if neither are working would that point you to the ECH? or Battery?

Blue Plug wires, handle bar riser bushings, and front tire on order now.

Pic I got of both of them out (that tan seat is bad! Haha) & one 1/2 ass pic of me & my dad together.

If it was the wires in the rear fender the Flashers would not work. The Flashers, Turns, Running lights all work. So that means the wires to the Lights work all 3 Ground, Running and brake/flash.

I found the connection for the rear Brake pressure sensor. Test it and No continuity, then press brake and it has Continuity.... so the brake switch is working... That points me to something in the ECH. and Bike is a 2003 with a ECH.IMG_7281.jpeg
