This bike is 7-8 hours away but. I think I may be about to fix it up for a fun second bike.

Its a 107/ 6 speed bike. But the primary looks different then the 04? what's the difference? This one has a more square shaped inpection hole vs my Primo Revea long oval? Also was it a Baker 6 speed or something else. The right side has the groves in it, my Baker does not?

Also Frame issues were only Choppers RTs, correct? This Boxer should not be a issue?

I assume these have electrical/ ECU issues as well? I am told brake lights don't work?

Probably Harley FXR primary.... and your oval hole primary isnt a primo, it's a standard harley primary...only thing primo in your 04 is the clutch basket....frame has no issues on the boxer...being a 03 the trans is either a Baker or a Jims... if its stock it has a ECU in 03...they are simple and very rarely go bad...brakes lights could be a bad brake switch or wires

Yes when I google Harley FXR primary it looks like that. but my 04 chopper looks like a older Softail Harley. Both have 107s, and Baker 6speed though. any issues with the other primary's? are they interchangeable? I have attached a pic of the primary.

Added a pic of the top of trans, can see "Big Dog Motorcycles ~ Baker six-speed overdrive" so trans is good.

Good to know on the older ECU, when did they start making them like crap? my 04 Chopper is strait wired like old school. only thing in there is the Thunder heart connected to the Timing sensor.

thank you for being fast at responding, as I am trying to lock this down with knowing as much as possible.

Do boxers have a lot of Flop to them when parking?

So does anyone know what the difference is on the Primary's?

or about this model Boxer and flop / slow speed handling?

What price range should this be in? clean title, over all decent but paint messed up around gas cap, and leaks some oil so will need some gaskets and cleaning.

Because I like details & to know what I am spending my money on.....

I did buy it though, but hope it does not flop hard / handle like crap lt slow speeds. Still don't know why it has the weird primary either. But seemed like a good deal even with scratched up paint. Will clean it up, redo gaskets, polish it all & stuff & see what all it needs. Be a fun second bike to my 04 Chopper.

It's a 2003 Boxer 15K milage, with S&S 107 (S&S Rockers), Super G Carb, Backer OD6 trans, & weird primary. Has Stock ECU & Thunderheart ignition still as well. With a lot of scratches in paint, a large gas run by the gas cap, but most the chrome looks good. Leaks some oil, but fires right up & no smoke or anything so hopefully more maintenance & cleaning, then cosmetics.

I can't seem to find nearly as much info on the Boxer model as I can Chopper or K9, or even mastiff. Anyone know if the trees are raked as well, I know the frame/neck is 34 degrees. But curious of Trees are 0/3/5?

Paint chips around gas tank cap .
Bigdogpastsking . com sells a paint saver ring you put under the OEM bezel to cover chips . Or MrWright on this forum can make you one .. custom size .

Congrats
You should be happy with the handling .
Bigdog has great reps for handling.
Probably the best in custom bikes.

Boxer wasn't as popular, has a Dyna look in back area with the shock arrangement.

Most opted for the hidden softtail shock design with the Mastiff or hardtail Pitbull.

Yea I would have rather had another Softail version like a Mastiff, but pricing of this was key here. I don't need another bike. but will add to the stable even with exposed shocks for this. Just gathering information as I will need to order parts. Paying o have it shipped was barely more than diesel fuel to go get it so I have no clue how it sits/ flops/ handles. Oh well fingers crossed its not like that other pro street bike I worked on for a buddy (flopped hard).

The paint while it has that Big spot at the gas cap, the tank its self and rear fender have scratches all over it so it will probably get repainted once I get it mechanically sound and shinny.

Yeah, it's just a different look. Not bad in my opinion.

I have a 04 Bulldog and 03 Chopper .

Bulldog handles great .. no flop etc .
No complaints on the 03 Chopper eighter.
Probably relates to the "trail" that's designed into the bike from the manufacturer.

Being a 03 it has a more conventional engine electronics. And your hand controls ie: switches , grips are the same as harley stuff . So.. you gain those simplicity's.

My Chopper is strait wired. Zero electrical stuff. ThunderHearts ignition module, with rear brake light only, Head light always on Hi, no turn signals, and controls. Key on/start. haha very basic and reliable. I love the 04 & Older stuff for the cross over Harley parts. I was looking for 04 and older cheaper pro street style for a second toy. Hopefully this works out well.

Great to know the Bull dog does not have flop. They are very similar bikes other than rear shocks.

So after ALot of googling and stuff trying to put together some info on Boxer models. I welcome corrections or other info.

Looks like 2001-004 was the only 4 years made?
Only Rubber mounted motor Big Dog?
01-03 have front HD style Kick stands 04 got the rear mount? (Can you swap to rear if you wanted?)
Some seem to have 18/21 wheels combos, while others have 18/18 wheels. specs show 18/18?

01-02 has Twin Tube Swing Arms, and some kinda of gauge. center tank panel.
03-04 has single tube swing arms, and a smooth tank with only a Speedo on the handle bars. (04 has split bars, 03 normal)

Rear kickstand is possible but I do believe you have to drill and tap the frame to mount it. ASAIK there's not hole ready for it.

Roger that. Wonder how hard it would be to drill it with out messing up the powder coat in over areas.. I know in fiberglass you can drill in reverse to slowly get through the gel coat, and then go normal to have a clean hole. I do like the rear stands.

Contact Knothead on this forum.. Great guy, very skilled. Machinist, welder, builder, hi standards .

He may even have a kickstand, he carries some parts on hand . Has repaired several peoples bikes on here including some indepth rebuilds . He's worked on my bikes .

That hole, a sharp drill bit should get you a clean hole . Maybe brush a little paint on edges as a rust inhibitor. But the kick stand should cover them .

Thanks, I have seen him post seems to have good knowledge on here.

I can do most things my self but I am picky and don't want to move a kick stand to mess up the frame coating.. but Yes should cover any small chips if not perfectly clean.

I just wish I could find some good hard info on Boxers. I mean putting together info on my 04 chopper was one thing this one is like a ghost! guess big dogs back then just everything the same.
