Here you said the wires going to the sensor Red to black no voltage. Red to ground 13 volts. That tells me the black wire from pin 45 to the sensor is open?? Or pin 45 is not connected to ground? If you look at the middle picture in post #64 the dark black pins should all read to battery neg. / ground. Pins 19,22,35,36,37,38,39,40,42,43,44,45,46,47 & 48
Could there be a ground that isn’t hooked up somewhere that goes to all those pens

Is there supposed to be a

i’ll check it out tomorrow. I am off to bed. My alarm goes off in six hours. I did notice today. It would be left side of battery along the frame, a bolt that has a wire eyelet under it and the wires been cut or broken but I can find no wire anywhere, that should go there
The previous owner change that ECH

OK I don’t know when I did, but I seem to have resistance or power in all three wires how do I tell? if the green wire is sending the signal to the speedometer before I put this back together. Or can you

One more silly question when I first put this Dakota digital on and I turn the power on so I could see the settings. Is there something in there? I could’ve touched shut off or otherwise to make it not show anything when I rode

Here is a link to the manuals.

OK thanks I actually just went out for a ride and did that before I saw this. I have the paper that came with my speedometer. I might’ve did it wrong though because I stopped like my paper said turn the bike off it didn’t say that, but it says turn the key to the on position while holding the button it doesn’t say start bike so I didn’t do that. I started it when I got to where the directions told me to drive my mile and stop. And it still didn’t work. It didn’t clear the screen or anything when I started the bike it still said calibrate on it. I don’t know I’m getting frustrated I better fire up the Harley and go for a ride. Lol I get no speed and no odometer reading. It looks like this. But on the plus side, it still wants me to put in the current mileage on the bike lol . If you look at the instructions that come with the Dakota digital it says not reading miles could be from a bad ground test OK but I know that doesn’t really mean anything. I cleaned every ground. I can find if I knew exactly which one was for it I would change it. And yes, I know it’s the black wire with the green and red but I lose it when it goes into the ECM.

I would go though the setup process again. Maybe it didn't finish it. So it not working because of that?? Don't know much about the digital speedo's.

I’ve been putting in 13 hour days this week which is pretty normal for me. So I’m pretty short of time in the evenings when the alarm goes off at 12:45 AM.

And their troubleshooting guide for that particular speedo. It refers to a bad ground for multiple issues. I know the wires good. If I wanted to ground it better just for kicks.
