There are plenty of parts to keep us going.
Toggle switches and slam buttons if we have to. Wait I already do.
Bigdog parts king has a ton of stuff still.

I'm confused with this Pit57 posting...not seeing his original post:confused:
But anyhow, yes the EHC can be replaced using the thunderheart EHC micro harness controller that was used in the American I-H, just make sure you purchase the push button converter as well. It converts the push button signal into a standard latching signal.
All his posts are gone. Guessing he was no longer welcomed here.

Rock on folks!

Maybe Pit57 wasn't getting the sympathy he was looking for! We can be rough at times since most of us are "We can fix it, do it, find it and don't give up easily". :2thumbs:

I have a 99 pit, so I knew going in that finding parts and repair info was going to be a bitch. Cross references are hard to find, and every part I buy will probably have fitment issues. I have two choices... keep the Dog and deal with it, or go back to a production line bike. For me, a cookie cutter bike has no soul. I can park between two $25,000 baggers, and everyone circles around my bike to ask questions. I only have 5k invested so far... so I'm gonna keep her and take it one repair at a time.

I wasn't removed, I erased my messages because it useless to explain to people on the site about the parts availability. The only guy who is understanding about the parts is Andrew who is professional on this site.

Wait till Baker stops making BD parts than we are screwed in that area also.
We will all be there when your bike is down, its riding season, paying insurance and you can't get a starter or clutch lever.
I know my 08 pit bull has a 20" tire and Avon has stopped making it, so I already have a 28k paper weight and I can't go to 18" frame will hit. So should I be pissed or have a positive outlook at Big Dog M.

Have a nice night guys & gals:flag:

Pit57 sounds a bit deflated.
Cheer up sweetie.
2 members on here live in Gladstone on the north east Coast of Australia, we are getting by just fine.
Sure when stuff becomes available on Fleebay at good prices we grab it, or if it is major Mr Andrew Barnes comes to the rescue as well as other sponsers on BDMF.
Some HD stuff will fit (VR) for example.
Baker g'boxs built thousands of 6 speed boxes, so parts will be available for the next 50 years at least.
It is just the grips, hand controls, foot controls, frame, tins, struts. these can be overcome by a little thought and some local engineering.
As stated here BSA parts are availabe if you know where to look.
Keep smiling boys and girls. We have something not every idiot has.
Don't forget Harleys are like arse holes..........everyone has one.

I hear you mate I know all about big dogs.
I was talking Baker side cover and componets it is 2" longer than a standard Harley side cover. So it's these parts also that could be a problem.
My 2003 BD chopper and Iron horse had a standard softtail primary chain.
But 04 up uses a longer Baker style.
I hate to be at the mercy of one company.
I was bull shit when Big Dog started to prioritize and get away from generic HD parts. Even there rotors are made for theirs only.
Lucky we still have PM brakes.

But! I can't ride without a rear tire Thanks Avon.
I wish Big dog designed the 08 to 011 pit bull with an 18" rim and tire, then it is still available at least.
The only thing deflated is the tire!!!!!!

Cheers
Your glass is half empty, ain't it?

I do feel sorry for you pit57,

I didn't realize you had a 20 inch rear wheel to try and get tires for in addition to your other concerns. I have thought about getting some extra 330 back tires and storing them in addition to keeping my used tires. There has to be a solution.

what makes the availability of parts any different from the American Iron Horse that you supposedly have also? Parts are parts and your always going to find what you need. So why the complaining?

AIH is more standard HD spec.

HD hand controls and primary spacing is to HD spec.

Also the AIH Texas chopper has a larger tank.

The above is why I bought the AIH over the BD. When I bought, the BD handwriting was on the wall.

Even though I am not a BDM owner, this is a great site and the people are very upbeat and friendly. I am happy to know that the folks here are making replacement parts for the BD or recondition the existing parts.

At least there are companies that are helping.....compare this to the previous run of Indian. They were left in a terrible place.

Oh well, rock on folks.:hi::flag:

If I had known it was you that was emailing me, I would have ignored it  Just kidding!!! I figured it was you :D
The only parts I can see being a problem to find are the stock PCB's in hand controls...anyone know of the company that was making them for BDM? I have heard they were made in England...this true? I would think that the companies who were involved with making parts would step up and sell to the public. Its not like these are OCC bikes that have only 1 or 2 bikes made... there are thousands of Big dogs on the road still. Maybe we could start some sort of letter with signatures to send to the companies that were making parts..? Such as the 20" tire....just a thought.
But, I'm not one for writing a professional letter, so someone else will have to step up and do that :D

Hew,

I saw a bike at Strokers awhile back that had a 360 Tire

It was made my some Chinese/Korean/Japenese Company....I assume they probably make 330 as well. Just need to do some digging, I recall someone posted on here about them.

I think that picture goes with this thread as well.

Must SUCK to own this POS since all the parts are propertiary...who would buy this piece of crap?:roll::argue:

My thought process is this... When it breaks I fix it..cant find parts...the internet will have them SOMEWHERE out there.. and its not the end of the world..machine shops will help as well...
