:zz2cents: The way I understand it is that since this transmission has only been in service since the 2005 model year, and the average BDM rider only rides about 2500-3000 miles per year, there's not alot of opportunities to analyze a transmission failure event.SOP from what I can tell is just like you said... they send them to BDM for fixing. Not sure why... BDM must figure most of their field mechanics aren't tranny experts. IDK
The typical dealer isn't set up for failure analysis, oil analysis or metalurgical testing. ALL of the failure clues are inside the transmission case. I would doubt that the factory would want to pay current shop labor rates for warranty work only to have a tech in the field miss something only to have another failure because the root cause of the failure was not determined.
If failures don't occur until after 5,000 or 10,000 miles the "average" rider may not experience a failure for 2-4 years.
