Do you know if the tranny is "fixed" if the problem is corrected...Im not worried about BDM they always take care of the fix, I just wonder if this will continue to be a problem...
Gas, based on this post, I'd say the man has a broken mainshaft....Hello Everyone...I'm new here, I was intesested in this because yesterday 6/17. I was on the freeway cruising around 65mph...went to pass, pulled in the clutch and felt like the cable broke..but, the tranny went limp...engine revs as if in neutral...I was able to coast to the shoulder and put bike in neutral(green N)...cluth cable has slack but tranny will not engage...needles to say flat bed to the shop...
6950 miles... 07 chopper...wtf
OK... will note that in the mental file. Now that you mention it, I remember Jake saying creeping when carrier went out.thought he said that he had the same symptoms as Skully's and my bike. May have mis-read but, that's what I thought I read above.
Creeping when in gear etc. sound like the clutch hub issue. Losing power to the ground and the clutch at the same time == mainshaft broke.
What kind of tranny fluid are you running and is your bike stock?Great, I hope it will be soon...waiting by the phone to hear from the vet to give me the good news(fingers crossed)...the call should go like this..."hey, your bike is ready, only a minor adjustment, nothing broke, your good to go!"
This is my second Big Dog and it has been running perfect for 7000 miles...and then it just quit...
This sucks and you're one of the only 07's I've heard of.TCALZ07...
My bike is stock...the fluid was replaced at the 5000 mi service by the shop...I'm not sure what they used...I will find out and let you know.
Has anyone had the mainshaft broken twice on here? Does BDM have an upgraded main shaft?
Watched some Vids on here by Ray...There is one were a Big Dog is riding a wheelie after a burnout...Nice show of power....Just wondering if he had the Baker DD6? I want what hes got!
Piece of cake Lee!
Can the bike shift when it isn't running?
IF you raise the shifter does it return to it's normal position or does it flop?
If it flops your shifter pawl spring could be broke...it happens!
You have to be able to get the bike into third gear to do this adjustment.
Put the bike in third gear and disconnect the shift rod from the lever on the tranny.
Move the lever fore and aft and you should feel equal movement and spring tension going either way (you may feel a bit of freeplay before feeling any spring pressure but it should feel the same both ways).
Just forward and below of the shift arm you'll seen a nut with a threaded shaft sticking out of it. This is the shifter pawl adjuster. It has an allen head on it so you'll need an allen wrench (may have to shorten it a bit if clearance is a problem...I don't remember off the top of my head what size it is I'm thinking 1/4" but could be wrong)
loosen the nut and rotate the adjuster either way until the adjsutment feels the same both waysYou shouldn't have to go more than about 1/2 a turn either way. when all feels good, tighten the nut and reattach the shift rod.
