BLOWN TRANS ?????

This could be a big deal. With the low mileage most of our bikes see, the future isn't looking to bright for big dog and trannies. It's got me a little concerned. We need a photo of the failure. If they need to engineer a new part, now is the time. I would be interested to see what baker has to say.

Wolf... you got 2 of those o rings comin
Thanks, Chris! I owe you one!

Just got a call from Redeye's adjuster and, he's coming by this morning to have a look at the Harley and take some pictures so, I'll be able to possibly get that bike on the road after all the pictures are taken of the damage.

I'd rather have the pitbull for this weekend though. I'm going to hold Stroker's to the carpet on this thing.

Thanks, Chris!

NO FUCKING HELP FROM BIG DOG ON THIS ONE

Thanks a LOT Amy!

Fucking bike has been in the shop since fucking Sept. because big dog can not supply parts. The fucking main shaft broke after 2 tanks of gas, I find out 5 other guys have had the same issue.... the fucking bike is in the shop another month. they finally have the tranny back together and, a simple o ring is on backorder and they have NO idea when they can get one. ( luckily Chris has one and has sent it to me )

I AM FUCKING SICK OF THIS SHIT!

On top of that, that great customer service company called big dog doesn't seem to care that my bike has been down for 6mos due to them not being able to supply their own parts.

what she say about the at least 6 mainshafts broke that we know about?

wonder how many pivot bolts broke before it turned into a recall? maybe after someones swingarm kinked to one side and the guy crashed and burned?
Claimed she only knew of one ever breaking. I asked her if she wanted names and phone numbers and she started mumbling.

Yeah, that and the fact that big dog has yet another faulty part but, this time, they're not wanting to recognize it for what it is.

Maybe I"ll ask for the old one back.....
This is a good idea! We all know why they recalled the early clutches when they broke. When someone uses the term broke. It does not help us out here.If the main shaft is in your hands then we could do our own failure Analysis. If you do get to keep the main shaft get bearings too and if the shaft is broken don't try to put them back together. The fractures, sheer, loading, stress raisers, torsional loading tell us a story so its important not to put pieces back together and remark the metal. always wondered about a main shaft with a hole thur it for the push rod and how it would hold up to stress.I would like to see close pictures of the broken shaft ends or anything else that would give us a clue WHY IT BROKE. root cause. 05chop

Seems to me that baker was doing pretty well in the transmission business without the extra help IMO. I don't appreciate the extra, "help", from BDM on this one at all.

Sul is your frame daytec? Looking with a eyeglass or magnifier is there any holes, cracks, beach marks in the other end of the shaft? the one laying on the carpet?Does the other end look smooth too? The new shaft that you installed did bdm say it had been updated?

Well, since the insurance adjuster came and looked at the road king, I put it back together a little.

I got the bag back on. The adjuster was VERY generous in what he's willing to replace. Gave me a new bag ( 1000.00 ) which wasn't even marked except where it was knocked off ( it stayed attached by a hair and didn't even hit the road ) and, I've repaired that part and already re-attached it to the bike. Also, a blinker bar, which will need to be replaced... side cover which was barely marked.... a rear fender, which was slightly dented but can be repaired easily. If things go well, I may have julio put some wolves on the fucking thing. LOL

It's all back together except for the blinker bar, I just pulled that off. got the bag back on and straightened the brackets and license plate etc. and, I'm back on two wheels. LOL
