yeah, no kidding. I've burned two tanks of gas in the last 6mos.

the bike has been in the shop since last Sunday and very little hope of getting it back before Ray arrives here.

I'm pissed to say the least.

I bet - got the Road King yet?
Picking it up Friday morning. Good thing, I think Ray will be here on Sat or Sun but, it's all still up in the air. I'm just waiting on his call and, whenever he gets here will be fine with me. :D

I had a similar thing happen 1 time. Shifted into 3rd or 4th going down the road and got nothing. Bike just revved as if in neutral. Shifter got real stiff, clutch felt normal. Fucked with the shifter a little with my foot then gave it a hard stomp and it re-engaged. Havent had a problem since...

Thats a whole other issue J.T. Mine has done that. Sometimes you get a bad bunch of parts. I would imagine it is an inferior weld or metal causing the issues. What would be interesting is to see the build dates for the broken bikes, and mileage. Post them up guys.

Finds Neutral

my bike finds neutral between 3rd and 4th sometimes when i'm stomping on it. just shifts right back in. always thought it was a bent shifter dawg.
Kind of similar during ride to Daytona: Long uphill grade into Helen GA, accelerating up through 5th. and get "neutral" instead of 6th. Fiddled with foot a bit, went back to 5th. and a bit farther down the road went into 6th. OK. Laters, after running in 6th. for a decent spell, pulled in for food and it started happening between 2nd. and 3rd.

Seems to have been shift linkage - lock nuts had come loose, adjustment was freely rotating. After tightening, has not happened again.

Probably not related to what the rest of you are talking about...

I was driving my 07 K9 down the road and I lost the use of the clutch. The main nut behind the primary came loose. They never put red locktight on it. I watch the dealership as they took it apart while I waited. Had to drive the bike for about 25 miles with no clutch. Almost went down in a rain storm. I was pissed.

update 03.21.08 well it seems the main shaft busted and who knows what else. the trans was sent back to BD to have it rebuilt.
fyi, mine is an 06 k-9 with over 12,ooo miles. an other friend has an 06 pit with a lot less milage and his let go also.
i'm sure hoping that this fixs the vibration that started also.
they've promised to have it back to me before we get married. we have made plans to take the bikes on the honeymoon
.

Stroker's will have had mine there for a month this Sunday. I hope your luck is better than mine was, my friend.

My bike has about the same milage as yours and, it was also a main shaft in the tranny. My bike is ready other than them being able to find an inner primary o ring that is backordered somehow.

I think Gas has one and is sending it so, If I get back on the road this weekend, it will be thanks to him.

man i hope this isnt gonna be a common issue that rears its ugly head!

between you, your bud, jwoolf, blitz. thats 4 off the top of my head.

another quality part (baker) that BD made changes to in order to make it proprietary.

skully, was there any symptoms before it failed?
I think reddog had one bust on two different bikes. That's a half dozen that WE know of. :bang:

Yep. I'm having to pay for the mainshaft. They've offered to pay for the rebuild labor of the transmission only but, that's it. I'm sure it's yet another of the same part.

What are they doing for you, Skully? I may call customer service and see if I can get this thing done by them totally. It's pretty clear that this part is defective.

i just found my swingarm bolt is broke again. this is their upgraded bolt that i bought before it went to recall. its obvious they are buying low cost hardware.

its one thing if they have to pay for their mistakes thru recalls. its another if we have to pay for their mistakes. :bang:
That blows. And it does suck that intern it's cash out of your pocket. Is it a bolt that you can get locally? Maybe a hardened bolt?

I'm going to call customer service and explain to them that I've not had my bike out of the fucking shop since sept. because they couldn't get me a fucking frame and as soon as I got it out, I put two tanks of gas through it and a fucking main shaft broke. This Sunday it will be a month in the shop for this.... They still can not get parts to finish the job and, I'm tired of it. I post on the board and find that 5 other guys have had the same problem/issue. I'm going to see if they'll do anything for me on this.

That sucks. Any way you can get me the thread size and the style? I have a local guy that brings us/ and makes us bolts here at work. If need be I'll have him make you about a 1/2 dozen and send them to you. I'm just not sure the bolt you're talking about.

Skully... that blows.

Wolf... you got 2 of those o rings comin

Sul.. what the shit? Is it a too much power and instant hit of the chain??

Is it the bolt itself that spins in from each side?
