You may need to fabricate a custom plug, or modify your bad release, or you may wind up with a compression leak. If it were me, I would just install another release.

There are 2 passages in the head that are involved when the compression release is activated. If the broken release permits leakage , you'll have a super lean condition in that cylinder, which can do piston damage.

Thx for that info John. I did not know that. Obviously the solution would be to install a new one. Sounds like the other choices could cause issues to

Ya Im gonna pull the cylinders and check them. There isn't any scoring on cylinder wall but should just take the time and do it right.

If you're going to remove the head/heads, you can weld up the small hole in the combustion chamber, and you won't need to worry about a compression leak. That will = a permanent fix.

Then I will run into starter issues. Then battery, then tore up jackshaft, so on and so on. Don't want to put wimmer sparkplug manuals. Running a bdl 3" open. Considering putting these in instead of s&s.

Make sure they are the correct thread before you buy them.

Imo, those releases (pic) are for a completely different set up than what S&S designed to work in their heads, or replace the ones you have. Better check with Twin Power, and when you do, explain that you have the early, S&S solenoid operated releases, that you want to replace.
FWIW, the combo, spark plug style releases are JUNK.

I talked to my buddy at Twin Power today. Those releases DON'T replace your S&S releases. They need to be installed by drilling into the combustion chambers of the heads. On S&S heads, I wouldn't attempt to do that. Here's a pic of someone who tried, and missed
