top speed

I've pushed my K-9 to 110 a couple of times on the page extension here in St. Louis. I don't do it anymore. The thought of the road rash I would incur if something were to happen just isn't palatable. It's an awesome drag strip piece of highway, great visibility, low traffic volume. Parts of it are elevated so you don't have to worry about John Deer or Wiley Coyote darting out in front of you.

My 06 k9 is really vibrating through the handlebars once you get to mach 1. I don't think I could sustain that speed, my hands would go numb, even with gloves.

She'll cruise at 90 though fairly well, but the sweet spot seems to be 65-70. Very comfortable.

Tim over at Gateway Big Dog has said that the PSI Big Air Carb will smooth out that vibration. Something to do with how it aspirates the fuel. Evidently it turns raw fuel into a finer mist compared to the super G carb. And for whatever reason that smoothes out the engine vibration felt through the frame and bars.

Once I've paid off the note I'm going to try it.

I've pegged the speedo a few times on my Bulldog, the ride is smooth at 120+...the problem is hanging on until you get there!
I've been looking at new carbs, and really like that PSI big air...although pricey! Anybody here have one?

110 on the turnpike yesterday for about 15 miles, had some guy on a crotch rocket next to me, he was passing on the right. Ahhh, the innocence of youth................oh, I forgot I'm 46.

I remember doing 160+ on my sport bikes. But now on on my BD 100-110+ is about all I want out of it before I soil my pants, and my cheeks seem to take flight around 90....damn I getting fat.......
Exactly!!:2thumbs: My GPZ 750 went over 165 mph. I went from Manchester NH to Epping NH in 10 minutes( its 30 miles) on route 101. Would not want to do that on my Chopper.... 80 mph seems really fast on the Dog.

Had a '83 GPZ1100 and could only ring 155 out of it....If you had one in the mid 80's you must have had a "special edition 750" If I remember correctly, those had a Top End of about 135 - 140, depending on the year

I'm sorta a Kawasaki buff, I've owned about 7 of their bikes over the years (dirt & sportbike)

I have had my 05 Chopper DT pegged at 120 with plenty of rpm left and with my girl on the back and the bike was solid as a rock. I just got my dakota digital so I will be able to find out how fast she will really go.

Damn and you are still alive. To get 30 miles in 10 min would be a nominal speed of 180 MPH, on a public road. Count your blessing to be alive and not lock away in some Govt Hotel for along time.

Same sentiments here

Ive had my '04 Pit up to 110ish. Im still amazed how fast it gets there. The '04 117" is amazing. It still gives me that feeling of, you better hold on when gettin frisky with er. Not long after I had it, I was doing about 70 in 6th gear, just cruizin on the freeway... dropped to 5th & cranked it ..... My front tire got a little light, and I was doin 110 in no time.

Multiple times Ive dropped a gear from 4th or 3rd, & pulled my front wheel slightly off. Im not about top speed anymore.... like some of the others who are no longer bullet proof, top speed days are behind me but, the pull getting to higher speeds still gets me off big time. These bikes really know how to shoot you full of adrenalin.... NOW.
