Well I'm thinking it wouldn't hurt anything to do a fuse with the CB anyway.... The only downfall would be another connection. But really its not even that, cause you could eliminate the wire from the CB to the battery and replace it with the in line fuse wiring. eye loop to CB and eye loop to battery... that's probably what I'm going to do.

Going to hit up the auto store today and see what they got. But basically the same thing as this...

Gas the ebay listing looks just like what comes in the kit. Braided wire like 10ga. with red see thru insulation. It just doesn't have the terminals.

Checked in at Autozone the fuse is standard off the self stock for $2.49 ea

I'm just saying... run it with the CB... swap out the wire from the cb to the batt with this. All you would need is some ring terminals!

Exactly and it shouldn't hurt anything as long as you're getting the required voltage back to the batt.

So I ordered one of those from him along with 2 more extra fuses (totalling 4). Reason being, the one I got from my bro's tractor place is green (I don't know why) and 10 gauge... not sure which will be better so I'll just have both.

Anyway, the ebay one, $9.53 for all of it shipped. Got the 2 more 40 amp fuses from his ebay store.

No auto stores had anything bigger than 12gauge and no bigger than 30amp. The big car radio place had some but wanted $5 for just the fuse holder. F that...

Actually I checked Mickey Shore but they wanted $5 with no fuse and it was just a hassle... so forget it... its not worth the time, gas money, and dealing with the xmas traffic. Trust me... anything near the Eureka sucks....

After reading Alicat's thing about not getting his VR checked.....I went out to the garage grabbed a 7/16 socket and popped mine off....mine is good....has the 06 on the third line:up: FT said they checked mine and they did! they were right...although I haven't received anything in the mail yet.....maybe because I already have the good VR in it...

I doubt thats the case I have the 06 VR on my k-9 checked via Gas' original post. I gat a letter last week, but as gas siad didnt say anything about a fuse, just that the VR could be recalled.

Voltage Regulator Inspection and/or circuit protection Kit
P/N 173-000039-00

You only get a Fuse kit if your VR has 04 or 05 on it, 06 and up you get NOTHING.
The 40 amp Maxi fuse is placed in line between the circuit breaker and the battery.

This is a good idea no matter what year bike you have.

They removed the circuit breaker on mine and now just have the fuse. Cheap ass fix.

would it not work to just make up the fuse link and put both wires at the breaker on the same stud then the breaker is out of the loop for failure and should give a good connection

I got the ebay fuseable link in... its a nice one. Plus it comes with 2 x 40amp fuses... shit for $5 you couldn't buy one at the store for that much.

I rode up to the dealer to get my VR recall done this morning. They put a 50amp fuse box under my seat. I'm going to have keep an extra one in my tool roll just in case it decides to go.

Just a reminder if you are going to replace cb get one thats waterproof.OEM isnt. 05chop

so will the dealerships or big dog send you the fix or do ya HAVE to bring it in?.here in illinois i have no dealerships I can go to,(illinois dealerships are droppin like flies)(the remaining have SCREWED me BAD!)the closest one for me is in Maryland Heights, MO 4 hours 1 way.
