A fuse to protect the circuit breaker from the VR?:bang:


Ya, that'll work nice (fast response with the fuse) but what's the real problem? I'd be wondering what's up...:loony:

Yea, like I said it don't fix the problem, it just keeps the bike from burning to the ground if the VR malfunctions.

The NHTSA Safety Recall is #07V-356
Voltage Regulator Inspection and/or circuit protection Kit
P/N 173-000039-00

You only get a Fuse kit if your VR has 04 or 05 on it, 06 and up you get NOTHING.
The 40 amp Maxi fuse is placed in line between the circuit breaker and the battery.

This is a good idea no matter what year bike you have.

IM going to install the 07 voltage regulator that i got from (nelson) then going to do inline fuse too.BDM recall stated that there v/r had bad buss bars from being over heated.Cheap way to go for me.Nearest dealer is 250-300 round trip.Under a buck to get 07 reg here.Makes me wonder if the bdm batterys are any good.When I first got my bdm battery it shorted inside the battery.Short inside battery not good. 05chop

I just received the recall letter today. When I had the 2500 mile service done in October, I had to sign paperwork that the dealer had done the voltage regulator inspection. Wonder what happened to that paperwork.

Post a pic of this new fuse,The ones that got it installed.IM not going to the dealer to do this I will put there voltage regulator and fuse on myself.Cost more for fuel then its worth. FOR UNDER A BUCK YOU CAN GO THUR NELSON easy install.:flag:

I would also like to see this. I will install the fuse myself during the rebuild!

Yeah I may throw one on just in case too.
What's I going to cast me , like 3 bucks?

Funny though my friend had VR's go on his Harley and just replaced them.
His stuff never got destroyed. Like I hear is happening with the big dogs.

Yea, there is a picture out there somewhere. I will try to get a picture posted of mine. Did not change out the VR though, they only installed a 40 amp auto type fuse. It came from BD. Like I said it don't fix the problem just keeps the dog from burning.
