I have a very small inner primary leak on a 2006 BDM Pitbull. Has a Baker 6 Spd. Any idea on costs to put a new bearing in? I am looking for a ball-park before I call mechanic (probably Stroker in DFW). Thanks a lot.
How much fluid are you putting in the primary? The manual says 1 quart, but that can cause leaks and starter problems. Most run 20 oz. I had an open primary put on my bike because I got tired of fixing a primary leak every other year. Later on, I found out that it was probably too much oil causing the leaks.I have a very small inner primary leak on a 2006 BDM Pitbull. Has a Baker 6 Spd. Any idea on costs to put a new bearing in? try to locate the leak , is it leaking around the starter or where the crankshaft goes thru the primary?I have a very small inner primary leak on a 2006 BDM Pitbull. Has a Baker 6 Spd. 1 qrt like the maual said. But 1 qrt exactly. I'll take like 4 to 6 tablespoons out and watch it. Thanks for the tip!How much fluid are you putting in the primary? Thank you very much. I'm learning the history on these bikes. I'm not surprised about the pressure issues. Thanks for the added info sir. It's a well known problem with the 05-11 dogs. The primary can actually be run dry. The oil is just there to lube the chain. A full quart causes pressure problems in the primary. I would try that before tearing things apart.
Thank you @kickstart . I'm not sure if there is a vent but i will definitely look into this. I have the book of CAD drawings of all the parts and systems of the bike. I'll also have Strokers confirm before they dig into anything. Thanks! Some of the early models did not have a vent on the inner primary does yours have one? Primary = 22 OZ ATF Type F
They should know about the 22ozs of fluid in those slim primaries, but remind them and tell them where you heard it.Thank you @kickstart .
