Why such...jelousy?

I have a K9 2008 that is tricked out to the max. The ONLY failure I had was the starter went out and it was a re-call anyway. Heck, I have a 2010 Mercedes Benz AMG and it was just re-called!! So all the "Harley" guys who believe their brand is the only brand....just don't listen to it. They want to get the looks we do when we're cruizing down the highway but just can't afford it (just kidding)! Harley's are cookie cutter. I've had ZERO problems with my bike other than it being a magnet to girls at gas stations.

As for the ride on the K-9:

I went from a Heritage to a Street Glide to the K-9. I have no regrets and don't plan on going back (I like the ride and feel of the K-9).
I bought my Big dog as a second bike. Ended up selling my HD Ultra because I couldn't stop riding my K-9. One thing I notice is that wherever I park its always the Harley riders coming over to gawk at my sweet ride.
I'm not sure it's jealousy - in most cases I think people just love their bikes - go to any forum and you will find an on-going discussion of how great the bike is and why it is better than others. Some people like Honda's, some like HD's and some like Big Dogs. I personally like Big Dogs the best but if I won the lotto tomorrow I would have an assortment from many different companies.
I had an 08 Ultra, and it was a way way comfortable bike. Here is my comparison story.

I have had my K9 since I bought it new in 06. My daughter (now 11) has ridden with me since the day I got it. She thinks she is the coolest when Dad pulls up to school and she can jump on the back of the back all the boys and their dads are staring at and drooling over. I bought an Ultra in 08 mostly due to my sister and brother-in-law talking me into it. I had ridden to Sturgis with 4 guys on Ultras when I was on my dog, and they were in much better shape than me after 820 miles in a day. I had also just had the voltage regulator go out on my dog, so I was ready to get something I thought would be reliable.

I took my daughter out on the Ultra, we did about 150 miles to my sister's town. I stopped, we ate, and I asked her what she thought. She procedes to tell me that the bike is "boring". I was mad. I asked her if she liked the comfortable seat and the radio. She tells me, "If I wanted a comfortable seat with a back and a radio, we could take your car." I sold the Ultra. I didn't like it. I hardly felt as though I was on a motorcycle at all.

Is my dog as reliable as a H-D. No. Probably not. It requires more TLC. Is a Z06 Corvette as reliable as a Tahoe. No. It requires a bit more care. I love my dog, I love riding. It is comfortable for us over 6' for sure. And I can ride up with my mostly stock bike into 1000 Harleys and heads will turn. They might be jealous or have brand loyalty and give me a load of crap, but it ok. I don't hate Harley or those that ride them. I also do not hate Ford Fusion drivers, I just never notice them. Get the point?

I don't have a big dog yet but I know the jealous type.
I drive a Chrysler crossfire. People always say stuff like"must be nice to have money to blow on a car like that"
I reply with"It cost the same as your Honda Accord, I am just smarter than you!"
Should work about the same with other bike brands, we all know how fast the money goes when you start modding.
I have like 11k in my suzuki...yikes

I've rode my sons k-9 and have two friends with street gluides a 09 96er with a six speed and a 2010 steer gluide S.E. 110 with a six speed and have rode both of them and would just as soon ride the k-9 as them a I have a 05 chopper and I think the K-9 out rides all three of them.

Love my '08 K9, for me it rides better than my HD VRod and I'm 5'8 but I'm all leg - 34inch inseam. Dependability is how you define it, my VRod had about 300 miles on it when I had issues with the injectors, but then again most true HD people don't like the VRod anyway, those damn Porsche engineers had just to much to do with the engine development and it's water cooled!!!!! Back to the Dog the only problem I have is keeping my mouth shut while I drive due to that constant s##t eatin grin on my face. As a good friend of mine likes to say "Throw away the frilly panties and ride, no matter what your choice two wheels are better than four".

There is no way in hell a big dog is as reliable as a Harley Davidson. It's just not possible. That's some really poor advice.
Mine is.

Another round please
My BigDog bike is reliable and bad ass. Harleys can be cool too if you make them that way and have lots of cash. Just go with what floats your boat.

I've owned two Big Dog's now andy they do have problems. My first was an 04 bull dog and I went through 4 EHC's in that fucking thing and then finally sold it. The next is an 06 mastiff and again Im already down one EHC, one speedometer and a clutch cable. Haven't had any problems with the s&s motor or the 6 speed baker. The dealer here in town said that they have a replacement for the EHC so I dont have to use it any more but they will have to repalce quite abit of the wiring. It wasn't chep $2500.00 but I'll do next time it if it means I dont have to fuck with it again the next time one goes out. Other then that the bike looks great and get lots of attention..... even by my wallet.

I agree Vegas. So far..... If you want the look and the style of these bikes its something you have to deal with or you will end up sale it and that lately has been at a big loss.

I think that most everyone that rides a motorcycle likes to demonstrate their independence to some degree. I certainly do. That's why I prefer riding alone or with a small group rather than in a big pack and why I'm always trying to make my ride look different. Not better or necessarily more expensive, just unique. I had a street glide for a couple years and liked the bike well enough but it looked just like every other bike any place I went.

Clearly that's not the case with Big Dog. It's custom looking, it has strong performance, and its American made. The guy who bought my 2009 Harley CVO ULtra asked me why I was selling it. And I told him the truth. I have plenty of time to ride a geezer glide when I get a little older but right now I want to go back to riding a real motorcycle. He didn't look quite so happy after that. The Screamin' Eagle was a fine bike but I wanted something a little different and Harley no longer fit the bill for me.

last winter my family and I were down in FL. after a few days with the kids my wife and I rented a new roadking for three days after the first hour we wished we had our K-9 with us. the roadking was uncomfortable, had no power, no looks, Never had an issue with a Harley got my first new one in 1979 paid 3495.00 for it ran the living shit out of it as I do everything but after owning a Big Dog I will never be able to go back.

i pushed my deluxe home several times last year. it went in for warranty 6 times before the lazy tech found the problem. i admit i used to look down on anyone not riding a harley. all i can say is im gonna look down on everyone now. im trying not to judge people by what they ride, and i try not to let it show. i know for a fact that my buddy riding the fatboy with apes really wishes he had a chopper.
