Wanted something obnoxious :) Didnt want the total custom, as Im a Roofer not a wrench. Made the mistake of going to the dealer :) Thought they looked awesome. Ordered mine on the spot...(Jan '04)..... come the 4th of July, I was pimpin :)

Before they were as popular in my area, I used to get ALOT of looks/questions/photos/etc... It is still an attention grabber, just not of the magnitude it was when I first got it.

Ive had bikes my whole life. None have been as fun or adrenalin packed to ride as my Pitbull. Wish I had more time to ride it, as I sure dont have many miles on it in 6 yrs. I do ride my Harley some too, have some other things Im into these days.... and my kids are growing up fast. I keep telling myself that in a few years, I'll have all the time I can handle.

My story stars out saw friend buy 2002 pibull then moved up to a 04' bulldog. I wa hooked on his bike but could not afford. after many streetbikes and timing was right decided to take a chance on a 04 pitbull. this bike has me hooked I will never own a sportsbike again no matter how popular they may be. This bike and brand are BADSASS !!! regardless of the problems they encounter!!!!

I started out riding dirt bikes when I was 10. My younger brother, father, and I would hit the chat piles every Sunday, rain or shine. Real good times. In about 73, I got a 65 XLCH sportster, ridgid frame, 10 over forks, and rode it for 8 or 9 years. Got a 72 FLH in 81, for 1800$. I had done the top end for the guy I got it from a couple of years before, but he had found a 79, and he never rode it. Took me a couple of years to get it where I wanted it, but it turned out to be a great bike. Went from the Shovel to a 65 Pan, all original. Beautiful bike, but a real pain to keep going. Sold it for twice what I had in it, and bought my 95 FLHTC. I've got 70,000 miles on it and it's the most trouble free bike I've ever owned. The only problem is, I enjoy working on bikes, and it never needs anything. I kept thinking back to that damned old sportster, the rough ride, loud, obnoxious, in your face sob, and decided it was time to build something. Looked around, talked to some friends, but couldn't find what I wanted. Got on Ebay one night, saw this 03 Big Dog Chopper at a car lot in a town next to where I work. Went to look at it the next day, and rode it home. I couldn't buy the motor and trans for what I paid for the bike. It needs some tlc, but I've got it running good, looking decent, and something to tinker with. Life is great!!!:2thumbs:

I just wanted to see what an EHC was!!!!:job:
EHC sucks like a $20 whore in a $400 strip, and you STILL bought the bike! Me...been riding since I was knee high to a grasshopper. First bike: Briggs & Stratton minibike. Honda 90. KZ650. Then on to old Triumph that I tried welding into my first chopper. Turned out my welding skills sucked! (Another story for later.) but was hooked. Last bike I owned before going to prison for 23 years at age 17 was a brand spanking new 81 Wide Glide (Yeah, I know. All the AMF jokes. But it was a good bike. Honestly! Helped save the company, so bite me!) Spent 23 years literally dreaming of the bike I'd build if and when I ever got out of the Hooscow, then one day (much to my suprise, I might add, I finally parole). Landed a really good job thanks to alot of reaaaaaaaaally good people. Got my shit together, then just happend to stumble across my local Big Dog dealer. 2006. The first year for the K9. And I literally fell head over heals in love. Had been saving since the day I came home (2003). Literally BEGGED Harley to start building a fat tire, big motor chopper, but no response. So after months of wrestling with everything, right before the model change, I bought my baby...an 06 K9. Black. With tons of extras. And I've never looked back. I don't deserve this bike. Nor all the money, work, and upgrades I've put into her since buying her (bike plus personal work and upgrades quickly approaching 60 grand), but I can gaurentee you one thing...I'm one of the happiest douchbags you'll see on the road!!!

My reasons for getting a Dog:
1) I'm a 50 year old computer geek, never had a bike. I thought all of you were obnoxious loud bastards. (I'm still right)
2) I live in suburbia with a golden retriever.
Okay if that’s not enough
3) Older brother dying and we were spending time in ER with lots to think about
More reason?
4) I live in Milwaukee...no way I'm looking like the rest.
Okay, early AM another ER with bro and after Tangere or 2...EBay!
I just started clicking on what looked great.
Next morning I owned a bike...K9...sweet...now what?
Put on a few hundred miles, and almost pissed my pants on every turn for the first summer.
Now my second summer, put on louder pipes, sissy bar, passenger seat and pegs. Now zipping around all the HD look-a-likes in this city.
Not a suburbia bike... F-em.
Bro is hanging in there. Wife is cool. Jamies Customs BD dealer has been great keeping it running.
I love it
Don't feel bad about the Golden, bro! Don't tell the ol' lady, but eventhough she knows I'm a convicted felon, the love of my life is a 6 and a half year old Border Collie with lung cancer. Would sell my K9 in a heartbeat if I knew it would save his life!

I know what you mean, man. My best friend is a Maltese, 14 years old. He meets me at the door every morning when I get home from work, bouncing on his hind legs, grinning like a fool. Can't get that kind of love from a human.

I've ridden since I was 17 (28 now) and always had sportbikes. After I got with my wife, I stopped riding as much, then her family started buying bikes and we would ride with them. After doing a poker run with them, I knew a sportbike wasnt gonna cut it, so I bought myself an 04 Victory Vegas. Then I had the best of both worlds, but I found myself riding the Vic more and more, so I sold the sportbike and rode the Vic for about 2 1/2 years.

I finally got to the point where I wanted bigger/faster/more custom. I started looking at new Vics. The local Vic dealer is also a big dog dealer. So after a few weeks of going back and forth trying to figure out what I wanted, and kept looking at the BD and loving it more and more, we worked out a deal and I had a nice low mile Ridgeback. I love this bike, but being a hardtail my wife isnt a huge fan  I've had it 3 years now and its been perfect *knock on wood*.

You asked for it.

My first mode of transportation was a bike when I turned 16, couldn't afford a car and my fathers phylosophy was if I worked and payed for whatever I was going to drive that I would respect it and take care of it better. A guy I worked with was selling a Honda 350 four cylinder cheap, so I bought it, I drove it daily everywhere, in the rain, sun, got caught in hail storms, even road it in the snow as lond as it wasn't to deep but I loved it, it was freedom, pretty soon it was an extension of me. I knew everything I needed to know about that bike, all it's little quirks, how to keep it running, everything, as I said it was part of me, I could feel the road through the bike and knew it's limitations. Anyway, that lasted for about a year or so and I ended up joining the Marine Corps at 17, while i was serving my country at a young age I needed money and my dad sold it and sent the money. My love for bikes increased while in the service and I started drooling over Harleys, I particualy wanted a 1980 Lowrider Sturgis Edition, all black with Harley orange highlights but money was always the problem. Loved the biker lifestyle of the time, ended getting lots of ink from the local tattoo shops in Jacksonville N.C., wearing the leather and black tee shirts but no bike. After i got out of the Corps and returned home in the mid 80's all my buddies started calling me Miker the sidewalk biker and that used to enrage me, i wanted a bike so bad I could taste it, just couldn't get ahead money wise. Finally I broke down and bought a used 750 Kawasaki, no it wasn't a Harley but at least I was riding again. That lasted for about 3 years until some guy who saw me coming, he made eye contact with me, I had the right of way, and at the last second he pulls out in front of me, knowing that a colision was emminate while I tried to avoid hitting dead on with the cage of the car I jumped from the bike and flew over the back end of the car and rolled to the pavement. No serious injury, just bruised my knees on the handlebars jumping from the bike, the bike was totaled and the guy didn't have insurance so I was screwed, again without a bike. Ended up getting married and having two boys, the wife wouldn't let me get another bike. (Sorry if this getting to long, I'm on a roll.) Anyway, the marriage ended in 2003-04, our credit was in the shitter at this time because she handled the finaces, so I started my life over on my own, found out everyone I owed and started to pay off my debts. I visited our local BD dealer in 2003 and saw a chopper, I was in awe, I was hooked, It was my goal come hell or high water to own one of these bikes, I followed BD every year since getting a new catolouge each and every year, hanging pictures of them in my studio and work areas to remind me of my goal, when the K9 and Ridgeback were introduced I was going crazy visiting the dealer all the time, telling the sells guy, soon, very soon, I'm sure they got tired of me coming in and drooling all over thier bikes, rolling thier eyes at me thinking this guy is never going to buy. But finally I got out of debt and my credit started to climb, I bought a brand new house in 07 all on my own and then last fall payed off a bunch of things like old student loans and such and decided it was now or never, looked at hundereds of Big Dogs since last fall, had the dealer spec out what I wanted this spring, 2010 K9 EFI, chrome package, diamond cut heads with firnace flames, quote $37,900, bank wouldn't finance more than $25,000, FUCK I want a new dog so bad, so I had my eye on an 06 with XXX carb, weld chrome wheels and Paul Jaffe pipes, $17,000 and they would put new tires on to make the deal, only problem for me was it had 18000 miles on it so I dragged my feet on the buy for a week. I joined BDB in Sept. of 09 and learned alot just reading your guys posts, so about a week after trying to decide whether to but the 06 I found an 08 K9 EFI, with chrome package, diamond cut heads and furnace flames on sleasebay and it had the 18" sissybar, p pad and windshield. Contacted the seller and found out he and a friend bought it at an repo auction and were flipping it to try and make a profit, thay had a reserve of 17,000 on it, I offered him 21,000 if he pulled it, but he wouldn't, said he wanted to see where it would go, okay fine I said, I guess i would have to bid on it. Six hours before the end of auction it met the reserve, now I am left with the deision to bid on this beautiful K9 sight unseen 400 miles away. Someone that deals with BD that I met said the could chech the vin on it for me to see if it had been wrecked or anything else was wrong with it, it came back clean. I waited till the last 60 seconds of the auction, place my bid and won the auction $100 over the reserve! I was in bliss, traveled down to pick it up and when I first layed my eyes on it I was in love, when I first road it, well lets just say I still can't get the smile off my face. I decided to ride it home and had to go through Witchita, Got about halfway to Witchita and it died on me, (posted the episode on BDB), couldn't get it started again, so I called the seller and he came with a trailer and pulled me into Witchita and took it to the factory the next day, ended up being the VR which they replaced and got it home, have put 1100 miles on it since April and have not had a problem since. I am finally living the dream and my buddies now call me Miker the Big Dog Biker! You guys and this site are great, thanks for all your help and I only hope I can return the favors at some point in time. Sorry this is so long, but thanks for reading. Peace
