What's your story that got you to buy your 1st Big Dog?

I had been riding Harley Davidson's for alot of years. Aways like the looks of custom bikes. Had a Softail Custom in which i had done every mod to the bike that i could think of. Custom stretched tank, Custom paint job, low profile seat, Pullback bars, custom turn signals, fenders, performance upgrades to motor, lowered bike, 160 tire on the rear which was the biggest i could put on stock frame and all the chrome i could put on the bike. At that point i had around 23k invested.
In Dec. of 2001 i brought my bike to dealer for service. When i went to pick it up they had it in the show room parked next to a new 2002 Pitbull. Smart on their part. I was amazed. My bike looked small & that 250 tire blew me away.Walked around that bike for around an hour. Asked them if i could take it for a ride. After the ride i was sold. Left that day with both bike's. Have had no regrets.
Was not long after that they came out with the chopper. When will this madness end? LOL K9 next?

What a great question.

Great Idea:up:

I had a "Harley Ultra Classic" that I purchased at a song (Divorce) and one day my wife said that I look like an old man riding that Bike. I said "OLD MAN" ? I'm 40 years old.

I told her that I liked the bike, and she said she didnt. So I did some looking around and saw the Bigdog.

Fell in love with the Ridgeback and never looked back:2thumbs:

Best decision I (SHE) ever made:D

RIDE IT HARD!!!
Been a Hot Rodder all my life. Bought my first bike in 2001, a Harley Deuce. No matter what I threw at that bike it was never Hot Rod enough for me. Came upon a deal on a 2004 Big Dog Chopper DT and got it. NOW THESE ARE HOT ROD BIKES.:2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

I was in Sturgis last year with my wife and 06 Dyna Streetbob. We were strolling around Lazell St. buying T-shirts and it started to rain so we ducked into a big tent that turned out to be the Big Dog factory display. To kill some time waiting for the rain to stop I started looking at the bikes. Needless to say , I saw what everyone on this board saw, beautiful bikes priced lower than the other custom bikes that lined the street. Within 3 weeks after I got home I had an 03 Mastiff in my garage and the Dyna was history!

I rode a Honda 350 in law school, a very long time ago. Then, a car-dealer friend put me on top of a Victory Vegas last year while he rode his American Eagle Chopper. I rode his Vic and got my license. I was all set to buy it in April '08 when, while sitting in a cafe in Rome, IT, he texted me that the Big Dog he had on consignment had just lowered the price. I immediately texted back it was mine. I had never ridden it and didn't know a thing about it, other than it looked cool and was big enough for my 6'5" frame. It was one of the best decisions of my life. I get to spend hours on this site... Bike has run perfectly.

I was leaving a account in Baton Rouge going to another one and passed the local Harley Dealer that had started selling BigDogs. There were about 10 K9s of all colors lined up in front of the dealership, cars were swerving all over trying to miss each other from the fools not looking where they were going and gazing at the bikes. Guess which one of the cars/trucks I was? Made a u turn bought a K9.

Got Life?
I had always had custom Harleys and sold them to pay for my first marriage.
I know...big mistake! Got divorced a few years later and married the girl of my dreams.
Raised her kids until they were almost full grown and started looking at Harleys again.
The local HD stealerships were the biggest bunch of pricks that I had ever seen.
Thought their bike were made of gold or something. On top of that, by the time
I was done with the bike I would end up with a garage full of stock HD crap
to sell on ebay for a third of what it was new.

While looking around I saw a Big Dog Mastiff
and knew it would be my next bike.
Found a great deal on one in Colorado and
met the dealer half way in Kansas to pick it up.
I still had to sell a few items on ebay buy it was
mirrors, pegs, etc. and not seats, wheels and front ends.

I had two bikes at the beggining of this year, my wife's sportster and my V-Star 1100. She got a convertible for her birthday and said she did not really want a bike anymore. I suggested that we sell both and buy a bigger Harley. She wanted somthing with a BIG sissy bar and comfy seat. It is hard to find a used Chopper with sissy bar and they are expensive to buy and install. I finally got both sold and was ready to buy an electra-glide that was converted to a street glide look. I showed it to her on the internet and she said "You can't do it."

I said "What???"

Remember, I just sold BOTH bikes and for the first time since I was 12, I did not have a motorcycle. I was thinking "Oh boy - this is going to be one hell of a fight!"

She goes, "You just look like an old man on one of those."

I said, "Fine." I switched screens to the Big Dog chopper I was drooling over - WITH a tall sissy bar.

She looks at it and goes "OOOO - That looks nice. You should get that one."

Now I have been married enough times and long enough to know that there was nothing I could say that would improve this situation. I called the dealer the next day and worked out a deal. I booked my flight. On Friday, I flew down to Ft Lauderdale - picked up the dog on Saturday morning - and was back in Cincinnati Sunday evening.

Once I got home, she wanted to go for a ride - mind you I just did 1,122 miles. I said, "Alright - hop on." We went for a short ride. About a mile into it, she leans forward and tells me, "We don't need the sissy bar anymore....now I know why all the girls like to lean forward and hang on!"

I love that woman!

Back in 77 I bought a CB350 in Chicago right when I got out of bootcamp. Rode it all the way to Jersey and couldnt walk for a week! traded that for a 2 stroke Yamaha wheely bike. In 91 bought a sportster. Rode it about a mile, went back to the dealer and traded it for a low rider. Had that bike for 10 years before selling it to my neighbor.
A couple weeks ago i was in Myrtle beach for my Navy reunion. We went to the Harley shop for some shirts. i spotted an 01 Boxer in mint condition. They were asking 13,000. I offered them 10. They said no way...about an hour later i got a call and they accepted my offer.
Now Im waiting for a damn shipping company to get it up here! Cant wait!

Had bikes all my life, from dirt to street. Was looking for a new soft tail when a friend told me I should check out the big dogs. So I got a test ride on a new 05 chopper and loved it. Liked everything but the price, so looked around and found one used. Like it more and more every year.

I had stopped to eat lunch next door to a local bike dealer, after coming out I walked over to look at an enclosed trailer sitting beside his shop for sale. After looking at trailers we walked out front to just look at what bikes he had for sale. That's when the shit was about to hit the fan. I had my nephew with me and we walked up on this 04 Big Dog chopper, he looked at me and just said "Uh-Oh" and started laughing. I looked back at him and said " This is sure going to piss your Aunt off, may need to stay with you till she cools off. This bike has the Poker theme paint job and I own a local company that does free roll games in the local bars 6 nights a week and I give away a $10,000 prize package every year to the World Series in Vegas plus I played in it the last 2 years so we both knew it had my name written all over it. Anyway I made a cash offer on it, the guy counter offered, told him I would have to think about it , ignored his calls through the weekend and went back the follwing Tuesday with cash and got my deal I wanted. As far as the old lady this is still a lil sore  subject as of today. But it helps that part of it can be wrote off as advertising. I now have to do a kitchen/ den remodel before any more toys

I was riding a 1991 Fatboy with a bunch of mods back in 2002. One day I was riding out S/E of town and came up on a Fatboy with 2 dikes riding it. That was the day I decided owning a Fatbody wasn't for me! Now I'm selling the dog to go back to a Harley Bagger.

Why I have my Dog

I rode my Fatboy down to Florida to hang out with some friends. I met this cute chick at a bar who was riding a Mastiff. Raced for a beer and she blew by me like I was sitting still. Bought my dog within two days of getting back.

Been on and off bikes throughout most of my life. I had a really nice V-rod that I had put a ton of money into. Well, I hit a deer and totalled it, and there for a couple of months I really thought I would never get back on a street bike again. I got the itch again and thought that I really shouldn't put a lot of money into another bike until I decided if I was back or not, so I bought a used VTX1800C. Well, first thing you know I'm adding chrome, then pipes and programmer, then chromed the wheels, and a bunch of other shit. I stopped one day and thought, well, you're back, but now you got this damn Honda that you can't stop spending money on TRYING to make it into what you really want! I had a friend who loved my VTX and he snapped it right up. When I saw my Bull Dog, it was love at first site...I had to have IT - and I mean this particular one! The black cherry candy with the negative realistic flames just did it for me! Now, I'm wanting to add a Ridgeback or a K9 to the garage to keep my Bull Dog company! I was really proud of that V-rod, but the feeling I get with the Bull Dog is sometimes indescribable - and you ALMOST can't beat that feeling!!!

I was a dirt biker, got my first one at age 13 and then at 16 got the baddest thing ever (back then) a 1978 Yamaha YZ400. I never had much interest in street bikes. Then much later in life a friend needed a place to store his HD sportster, so I had that for about 6 months rode it a bit, and gave it back. Then another friend was on a work trip for several months and needed to store his 71 Shovelhead, so I rode that some and enjoyed the whole experience. And then about 5 years ago a co-worker offerd me an old Suzuki GS1100GK for $400. That was my first street bike, the "brown couch". I promised myself and the girl that if we rode it regularly and enjoyed it that someday we would get something nice. DAMN I WENT BIG. I was at Thunder Beach last year and I saw an 07 K9 LE..... I instantly knew that was the one I had to have. I spent nearly $10K more than I had planned to for a new bike, but couldn't shake the desire to own that particular bike, everything else I looked at just didn't compare. I suprised the girl with way more than any ole Harley and bought a Limited Edition K9. I have had it nearly a year and I still just stand and stare at sometimes not believing it is really mine (and the bank's)
