V-Rod Vs. Big Dog

please someone stop this madness. am i wrong or won't a hayabusa consistently turn mid to high 9 second quarter mile times with a experienced rider? and you guys are telling me your dogs will turn those numbers?? knew of a guy who talked crap about his custom pro street (not a big dog) that would wheelie like a sport bike with all the power and money he had in that motor. An experienced older gentleman who rides a hayabusa sent him packing. haven't seen that guy since.

...lots of "dreamers" here...a person who's raced or knows anything about bikes understands what's real.

You may get a Hayabusa to put up 9's...but it'll be a tough task. Biggest problem with the sportbikes is either wheeling or spinning outta the hole.

I use to drag race a GPZ1100, ZX10 & ZX11, best I ever got at Kil-Kare Dragway in Xenia, OH was a 10.61 @ 132. That was on a 1991 ZX-11. I'd launch it at about 3000 - 3200 rpm, and it was a fine line to get a decent hole-shot. It put out in the neighborhood of 160 - 165 hp. At about 8000rpms & above it felt like it would pull your arms out of their sockets.

BMW's *new* S1000rr is sporting about 193hp (BONE STOCK), there's a new KING of the sportbikes in 2010. It should trap at close to 150 in the 1/4 mile.

Here's a little video, from 0 - 270 kph (thats 168mph) in 12 seconds.

Not a street bike comparison analogy, but you will get the idea.

I run a built GS1395 in a mini rail.
When I race a built Banshee in the 100yards (legal sand drags) they get me outa the hole and usually win.
If the race was 110 yards I would be ahead, and when we raced 150 yards, the stroked banshee would be sand blasted big time.

Point is, the high strung in line 4's are laying down some nice numbers, but it is all in the top end. Above 8000 rpm's, these motors are pulling hard all the way to around 13K. My tach only goes to 11k so not sure what rpm's I actually get, nor do I have time to look at the tach.

2 highly skilled motorcycle racers would be interesting to watch on a Big Dog vs a 'Busa. I would pay to watch that race.

Just my .02:cheers:

Although I will admit, my experience has been that most who own them don't seem to know how to ride them, which is usually how I win. Admittedly, they are quick (but in my opinion fkn UGLY! jus my .02 cents)
Two great points!

A stock busa should beat a big dog but lets be really honest here. Do most people that buy a busa kno how to ride?? The answer to that is absolutey not. The people that do will smoke a dog.

Somebody on here PLEASE nut-up and take your bike to the track for an "official" 1/4 run with a timeslip.

You can even run 110 octane race gas in it...send me the bill I'll spring for the fuel.

There is a test and tune tonight at my local drag strip I just might have to run it.

A friend of mine at work that rides with us has a Hayabusa 1300. I was giving him a hard time the last time we rode and told him I was going to beat him like a yard dog :D. It wasn't even close .......If he could have kept the front end down it would have been worse. Those things are quick. I know I'm no expert drag racer and I'm getting old, but I've been riding for 40 years and raced motorcross in my younger days. I'm telling you it was ugly :D I don't see a dog keeping up with them. I just told him I still look better when I finally showed up at the next red light :D

that would be Bad-Ass

The local dragstrip has a tune & test on thursday nights here. For $10 you can make as many passes as you want (getting back in line of course after each). They run from 5:00pm until dark, and have been doing this for about 25 years. When I first started going it was only $3, persons just watching got in FREE...damn good entertainment.

I've ran many, many cars & bikes down that track...lots of Great memories.

Wasn't this thread about Big dog vs. Vrod? How the hell did it get involved with Busa's? Completely different league and bike all around. Let's keep the competition within our class! There is nothing more competitive than dragging against our own competition!

A local I know has a V-rod and goes on and on about it being a Porsche motor and whatnot. However, if we go out, no one is looking at him, haha. I could care less, and he can run that cock sucker all he wants. I love my bike and hate his.

Most think the 'Busa is the benchmark for speed, and at one time it was. Kawasaki's ZX-12 is right there, the ZX-14...pretty much a wash with the Suzuki. The new BMW, takes it to a whole nother level.

Now who the hell did my parents sell my old 5hp Briggs & Stratton mini-bike to? I'm ready to kick someones ass on that thing.

how did this thread turn from beating a vrod to beating a busa. Anyone here who thinks they can beat a busa is out of their mind. I don't even care what kind of rider is on the busa. That is comparing apples to oranges friends. I would be interested in how a Vrod vs big dog would turn out with comparible riders. With the vrod water cooled etc they make more power for sure. Most likely would win, but imo it's still ugly. I didn't buy the BD to be the fastest I bought it because it's bad ass and gets the most attention period.
