Well-if you'd ask me that question today, with the way I've been treated or lack of, I'd say-HELL NO. I don't feel that BDM has given me the assistance that I need with this bag problem.:angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:

Don't get me wrong-I love my K9-it's just the factory that has me so fucking pissed off.

You make it yours whatever you buy. Don't depend on anyone else to make it right. All manufacturers have their issues. I would buy another BD! If you bought one now and don't like it, then you bought one without knowing what you wanted.

here's my opinion having had a 05 chooper and numerous other bikes. if you want something that is high maintenance and not sure if it will get you from point a to point b consider this. bdm schedule maintenance oil change. primary change transmission change clean oil screen adjust primary chain every 2500 miles. hd oil change 5000 transmission 20000 primary 10000 adjust primary chain 07 and above never. i currently ride a 08 ultra classic and had got more looks and compliments on this bike than i ever dreamed of with the dog. the custom bike has faded and in my opinion is like owing a leisure suit. in the 70's when disco was popular they were hot. go to ebay craigslist etc and check the resale value. its very similar to what you pay for a leisure suit at a garage sale. i know this post will upset the die hard bdm people but its the truth that hurts. baton rouge harley is a bdm dealer that decided to open a bdm only dealership in new orleans it lasted about a year. they currently have 3 2007 brand new dogs on the floor that cant be sold. the above is facts not an opinion.

Everyone has THERE OWN opinion, and harley owners have there own. I've had the harleys, as well as others. And I'll stay with my dog. I've done less repair on it than ANY over ego harley. I don't have a problem with my dog-it's the damn factory!!!! And in time, I'll get over it. As far as the maintenance schedule, I never went that long-even on a harley. Oil is a hell of a lot cheaper than there overpriced parts. That's just my opinion.

Love the looks and love the ride, but not happy with the cheesy parts the bike was put together with, plus everytime my bike has an issue and I call the factory for assistance, they say they have never heard of the problems (clutch hubs, ehc, fender brackets, ect ect ect.), to me that is just poor customer service mostly when I read it on this site and hear it from other bd owners, so I would have to say that buying another one of these bikes would be a "negative".

I see that since I posted no, it seems more are willing to step out and say no as well. That is good, speak your minds. Waykool... what's up with you?
Gasman. I guess your asking me why I probably wouldn’t buy another Big Dog. Well I probably would if the price was right. Would I drop 30k on a brand new Dog? No fuggen way! I could build a custom chopper just like it or in my opinion even better for about 20k less complete with custom paint. I got a used Dog because I have always liked the look of the Big Dog product and I paid a little over what it would cost me to build one. Have I had problems with my Dog? Yes! But minor problems. You’re going to have problems with any type of custom bike like these. And finding parts off the shelf at your local motorcycle shop is always going to be a hassle. Lets face it, its just the nature of the beast weather you have a Bid Dog or some other custom type bike. My biggest beef with Big Dogs is the price of parts if purchased through BDM. I was quoted close to 1g for a complete sissybar kit for my 03 chopper. I believe I was also quoted around 60 to 90 bucks for a replacement license plate bulb L.E.D. retrofit kit. Kind of crazy if you ask me. All in all I love my Big Dog. I just don’t think I would ever plunk down 30k on a new one or any other custom type bike for that matter. But an older used non proprietary one with all the bugs worked out and low miles for the right price. I’m in!

Buy Another BD?

I'm a one time owner so far. I bought a used 04 Mastiff. Have I had any issues. Yah, the previous owner did a crap job of tightening the nut on the output shaft of the engine and forgot the spacer. No problem, fixed that myself. I currently had an EHC issue, but I think I'll be fixing that with the WP374. The ultimate question now is would I buy another. No, I'm still happy with my present dawg. Love this bike and the way it rides and looks people give it. Not many dogs in my neck of the woods, so they get a considerable amount of attention.
And that's my 2 cents.

Nascar im with you... i like the bike i own right now. Would i buy another BigDog ..absolutely. i want a K9 too add to my garage... Wont be a new one and i will keep my Mastiff.. And the wifes Sportster. i have been at the same job for 19 years. General auto repair. these bikes are just like every automobile on the road. two cars same make and model . one can be peice of shit and the other and amazing automobile.it is just how it is. Some jus arent right from square one ,in ALL the time one thing after another . others are terrific and give my customers great service........ Maintenance is key but other times i wonder if that old saying bout cars built on mondays and friday holds true. It all starts with how it was put together and if that person(s) really did it right. If so then it just needs to be taken care of...Ill let you guys know when i find that next Big Dog...

i personally feel if you are going to invest in any type of custom or production chopper you have to have somewhat of an interest or willingness to be your own mechanic. only because the factorys that are producing these bikes are going under and downsizing everyday. not to mention the dealerships. i live in charlotte nc now and the nearest dealership to me was extreme motorcycles in salisbury nc.(about 20mins from me) well i went to go there the other day and damn.... the place was gone.!!!! out of business. so just goes to show if you purchase one of these bikes. you may end up on your own with it. however for me personally i dont mind. i like the fact i dont have to see everyone and their family riding the same bike as me. as far as maintenance, i think if you do preventive maintenance and just stay on top of your bike, that will help you. also i personally think its important to ride these bikes. they are eye candy, however having them just sit there and idle in the parking lot does not do the job. hitting the road and putting on some miles helps. just my experience. i would purchase another one. but you have to understand what you are getting when you purchase one. its not a harley so there is not a dealership around the corner, nor parts or service. imo with the economy the way it is, this will only get worse. american ironhorse is a great example. getting parts and feedback on those is a nightmare. so the owners have to figure it out themselves. so if you purchase a bike such as this, just be prepared and hopefully enjoy doing things yourself. i think this will prevent lots of frustration. i dont mind it, so it works for me. but maybe not someone else.

I will never buy another one. In 06 I bought a new Mastiff and had the bike in and out of the shop for many repairs that were covered by BD for 2 years. 2 years a 2 months later the motor went to hell. It had 12000 miles on it and had never missed a service. Big Dog will not do anything about it. I have over 35k invested in this bike and 12k miles on it and it is now junk without a motor. I can't believe that a 35k motorcycle would last just over 2 years.

I like Harley's but they mostly all look the same. They don't make Choppers and my 03 takes a lot of Harley type parts, plus I do all my own work.
No Harley I have ever owned looks near as good as my BDM.
I think BDM's are built every bit as good as any bike in this class. (Except for that ECM BS)
I paid 500 bucks more for my 03 BDM than I did for my 00 Deuce and both were used.
I'm sure this BDM fits me better than the Deuce, it was just too small for me.
Custom bikes will never be dead and all Bikes have taken a hit in this economy.

Over the years, I have owned many Harleys. My only regret is waiting so long to buy a BDM. I purchased a used 03 Pit Bull, and I just love it. In fact, I am looking for a deal on another BDM, to park next to this one. So, would I purchase another BIG DOG ~ HELL YES!!!

I've had all types of bikes and my Mastiff is at the top of my list. I've had a few issues, mostly involving vapor lock and CA emissions crap, and I'd definitely consider buying another. I'd also consider buying an old Nightrain and chopping it up. I've had my Mastiff less then a year so it will depend on what I choose to do when I'm ready to make a change. At this point, it will be a long wait.
