Ok, so today

Update -- the Annunciator is toast one of the chips is fried (not capacitor) near where the damage is in the pic that was already posted by someone else.

Low fuel still is out but I can probably get around that -- might need a transistor and a resistor to fix that worse case.

While I have it apart, I'm replacing the fuel filter and doing some other work. Be ordering new annunciator from Curtis today.
Well at least ya know what it is. Sucks it's not a cheap part but at least an easy fix.

Interesting that is 3 annuciators fried in the last year I'm aware of and literally first time I've ever heard of them going South.

While you got the fuel pump out just replace the thermistor just incase that's the culprit on the fuel light. I think that thing is only a couple bucks.

Do you have a part number?

Well if I could tell what chip it was I actually might be able to (or if I had the annunciator shematic) but at my age the eyes aren't what they were once but probably could still solder a new chip in if I had to.
Problem is Mike, depending how deep it burned into the laminate/board and how many tracers did it take out and melt together would determine if its fixable or not.

Might want to ask Curtis when you order the tach ring.

I guess they aren't as cheap as I thought BDM has them for $40 according to this other thread.

Also said victory ran the same one.

Here is the victory one for $21

S&S worthless!! Called, even though its in their 2015 Catalog, its obsolete per the rep on the phone..

Needless to say... Called Rylan Vos at the Vic Shop above...

Vic Dealer part number 2520678 about $35 bucks!! BOOM!! Big shout out to Rylan and Tdubb for the info!! The Vic dealer might tell you Vic part numbers are 7 digits, tell him to look it up, its in his IPB if he gives you any grief like the one locally did... If they punch it in, and nothing shows up, chances are they have never ordered one before, which was the case here in AZ with the dealer I called...

the burns not that bad.
Given the complexity of a tach circuit or actually lack thereof with a brun in one area like has been shown recreation of traces could easily be done with jumpers just like you were doing a revision after the board etch.

Not being able to read any chip part numbers and the damned enamel/plastic coating added on top of the board to prevent shorts is more of an issue.

I've already ordered one from Curtis

But then you would have to worry about the retaining ring that holds it in fitting back into the slot, maybe you didn't get that far yet.:oldconfused:

Speaking of retaining ring.

Mike be careful with the foam around the tach ring that does NOT come with the ring and I think the foam is pretty hard to find...go figure.

No I got that far just commenting on the pain it would have been.
Also the retaining ring is not the issue, there is enough space for that to make contact and not interfere with the circuit at all.
It's protection from water etc to prevent corrosion.

I'm sure that rubber ring doesn't come with it and its still ok even after I removed the board.

Just need a clamp for the fuel pump and the pump assembly will be ready to re-install.
When I re-install fuel pump assembly I will fill with fuel and then check the resistance of the thermistor before nad after fuel is introduced just to be safe but I really think the thermistor is OK. If it had failed it would likely have burnt to an open circuit and a 1K or 1.5K thermistor seems to be the common value in low fuel circuits from what I found on the net.
