it is best to turn it off as soon as possible. just end up flooding the motor and soaking the plugs. i rarely use the enrichener, only in extreme cases and then it gets turned off as soon as it cranks and then i put on the cruise-mate to allow it to warm up.

X2,

I only use it (half way up - it has two settings) in very cold mornings and for no longer than 10 seconds.

If you don´t have the Cruise-Mate, just hold on the throttle at about 1500 rpm for a couple minutes.

Once at normal operating temperature the idle should be at 1000 rpm. use the Idle screw to set it up.

Clock-wise = more rpm (and viceversa)

Sorry for noob questions. His can I tell if I have the cruise mate?
Also, the rpms on my odometer don't work, is there an alternate way of knowing I'm gettin 1000 rpms? Gonna wait till after work to start up again.

The cruise mate is a lever that holds the throttle from going back. If you don´t have it (its an aftermarket thing) you will see a knob in there which you can screw in/out to hold the throttle in place.... just DO NOT forget to easy it off before start riding!!!

The 1000 rpm, you cant get it by ear... it just needs to idle nicely, not too sluggish.

Just keeps cranking and nothing happens. I pulled the plugs since that was the culprit last time. Fouled? They were brand new when I first got the bike started.

Did you check for spark? Plugs hooked but just resting on the cylinder fins and press the run/start button....

Be careful while holding them... hold it by the boot... if you touch the plug you will get a hell of a shock :D

Those do look a bit fouled but this can be because of all this trying to fire it off. You can clean em with an old tooth-brush and dishwasher/degrease liquid... dry them thoroughly afterwards. The wife hair-dryer works puuuurfect!

If you did put everything back as it was you should not need to open the carb again?.

Did you open the petcock (fuel) and gave it a couple swings to the throttle first? :D

Whats the temperature like at your place? very very cold? if so use the enrichener... (half way should do the trick) and do not open the throttle while trying to fire it.

ALSO, make sure the battery is fully charged. leave it on the charger full time.

first, remove the air cleaner and see how the jets squirt. is it a good even pattern or an uneven stream? might give you a place to start.

sneezing through the air cleaner = LEAN

What Inter jet do you have in there? if stock it will be 29.5 Go up to a 31.

I think that will do.

HAVE YOU READ ALL THE DOCUMENTATION I SENT YOU??? There explains it quite well.

popping on decel could be worn/leaking exhaust gaskets allowing cold air into a hot manifold. use the tapered gaskets, not the flat ones.

Alright. Will adjust the carb and see if that fixes it. Then ill check out the gaskets if it doesn't,ill keep ya posted
