mine is a 06 k9 ,it has, i guess they are called bearing cups on the neck and the race slide into them , not sure how you could knock out with punch ,,,I used a brass punch and knocked both of mine out after removing the triple trees..
Mabe Iam missing something here ,but why would you take the cups out to get the race out?those cups should come out with a punch, but don't fuck them up like I did with mine! The cups are pressed in, but if you look down there with a flashlight, you can see the lip where you can get a drift on them to knock them out.
SHAZAAM!BTW.... he had no "Fall-away"![]()
Our frames don't have cups. Some frames you have to press the cups in like my brothers BBC. BDM frames have built in cups so you just punch out the old races and press in new races and then install the bearings when you put the axle in.Mabe Iam missing something here ,but why would you take the cups out to get the race out?
THANKS GUYS ,,,,, I GOT THEM OUT ,,,IT TOOK ABOUT 1 1/2 FOR UPPER ONE AND ABOUT 15 MIN FOR THE BOTTOM....ONCE YOU DO ONE, IT GETS EASIERto replace the bottom bearing on the triple tree last time I did it on a road king I busted the timken bearing took a dremel andcut the race then hit it with a chisle and knocked that sucker off. Cleaned it up and pressed the new bearing on.
I realize this is an old thread but does anybody have an idea how he did this? I'm thinking about drilling holes in the brace to punch them out, after heating them up.THANKS GUYS ,,,,, I GOT THEM OUT ,,,IT TOOK ABOUT 1 1/2 FOR UPPER ONE AND ABOUT 15 MIN FOR THE BOTTOM....ONCE YOU DO ONE, IT GETS EASIER
It is enough meat to drill two holes, one on the lower since it has the hole already. Can't see the other side in your pic but wondering if there enough meat to drill 2 holes 180○ apart so you can put a drift pin to it?
I hope so since I just took it off my bike. The 2006 K-9 has two different frames so fear not if yours is not looking like mine.Is that the right race? Doesn't look like the one I just got in the mail?
