Sooooo, a customer of mine who is a member of this forum ordered a 330 Avon rear tire off ebay from Bourget Bike works. It was a great deal, but come to find out once the tire arrived yesterday, it is date stamped 0205. Meaning, it was produced the 2nd week of 2005...almost 9 years old!!!:eek:
So, both myself and the customer emailed Bourget and asked them for a return shipment label, along with another tire or a refund. They replied back stating, there will not be any refunds given, all the tires we have are made in 05 and 06, we have over 3000 in stock, we use them all the time and no problems, and we are the ones who paid AVON to make a mold for the 330 tires, and they were only built in 05 and 06........Ok, this is news to me!!! So I called them and explained that I can not put this tire on the bike because of liability reasons. In NY state, we are not allowed to mount anything over 3 yrs old. She said, I have never heard of such a law.
She is refusing to do anything about this situation. My customer is pissed and I don't blame him. It's no wonder some of the guys on here are having problems with the tire splitting, they are 9 yrs old!!
Does anyone know if this is true about only being produced in 05 and 06? I call bullshit!! They built the 330 Ridgeback in 08:loony:

 Thanks for the hookup.........

I'll be sure and ask for the "born on date" prior to any tire purchase!

Interesting to say the least. I bought my 300 off of eBay and received it with a stamp less than a year old.

Mine has date stamp 3209. So, she is wrong. I still have the original tire in the attic that I could check.

Just checked: original tire was 0704

This is what she wrote in an email reply back to my customer...

"There is no issue whatsoever with these tires, I use them daily in production of high end motorcycles and I would not ship a tire to you that was defective. I actually paid AVON to make the molds and produce the 330 tire and those tires were only produced in 2005 and 2006. I can see if there is a 2006 dated tire – but we inspect every tire before shipping and if I wouldn’t put it on a motorcycle I build and warranty for 6,000 miles I wouldn’t ship it out to an online customer either."

So,

Is it worth while to send Brigitte pictures of my 2004 and 2009 Tires so she can find out the truth about 330mm only being made in 2005 and 2006?

Will see what happens with all this. If she continues to refuse refund, ebay will be contacted. Then I'll share her email with you so you can do just that :D
Not sure how this women is related to Roger, but she has the exact same attitude as he does. I met him in Phoenix while going to MMI. I used to clean his swimming pool. He was an A-hole to say the least. :job:

I was going to trade my BDM in on a Bourget. From what I was told by the dealership, Bridgette is the divorced wife of Roger. She got the business in the end...and I guess now we all are "getting the business in the end"!

Thanks for the lesson to check the date. I knew how to read them but never bothered to look.

It had a more radical look to it and I was tired of being afraid to even press the start button on my bike, let alone leave the garage. People should not have to carry AAA or own a truck and trailer just because they own a BDM.

I had a 900 Ninja for 21 years and the only parts I replaced were the cams and exhaust valves. That bike NEVER let me down.

I remember reading somewhere a long time ago about shelf life on tires and I believe it was 6 years, sounds like she's trying to dump the old stock.

I hope you used a CC to make the purchase.

I get so many customers that are pissed at me because I won't mount any tires that we don't sell to them. This is the reason why. I know how old my tires are... there is no telling how old the tires are that you are buying off of the internet. Everyone wants to get something for cheaper, but a lot of times they are giving up quality just to save a few bucks.

Everybody be aware of the username *wfo*motorcycle*parts on ebay!
Here is a link to the tire I bought:
Avon Venom Am 42 330 30 R17 87V Rear Tire | eBay

There is nowhere in the add where they say the tires are from 2005. The woman Brigitte is not giving a refund on the purchase when I state that the tire is 9 years old. She just won't do anything about it.
This really sucks!!! :bang::bang::angry:
So watch out doing any business with Bourget Bike Works and always ask when the tires are produced before buying any tire. That's at least the lesson I've learned now.

Isn't that the beauty of this country? I mean we still have choices and can put whatever tire we want on our own motorcycle....:flag::flag::flag:

Yeah Andrew and Dragan I just had a pissing contest with an unscrupulous vendor recently and again a long while back and this is what I did, it took a wait and some effort but I got my money back like this.

A. Dispute of Charges on Credit Card. You have up to 90 days after a purchase to do this through your card, if of course, you used a credit card. Sounds like you already have case enough for your card to stand behind you and not pay the vendor.

B. Better Business Bureau. This is more of a formality, doesn't really do much but at least shows the vendor that you are seriously dissatisfied and makes them respond if they become negligent of corresponding.

C. Threaten to write to the State Attorneys Office to open an investigation of fraudulent business practices. It has come to this twice in my life and both times as soon as I notified a State Office, the vendor was immediately responsive and willing to correct EVERYTHING to stop a real State investigation being opened.

Sounds to me like you have all the facts and the law on your side, get your money back.... GO GET 'EM. :2thumbs:

I'd look to see what the law in her state says about selling old tires.
