Jason from kmw gave me his phone number so I can call him when I get off tonight so we can both be positive on the situation.

The front 8 pin connector is replaced with the less wires cause of the Thunderheart module. Remember you will have to just hit the run button twice to activate and start the bike.

Call me if you have questions
Thank you I will keep that in mind and if I need help I will definitely call you.

Just got off the phone with Jason.
Your orange wire in the RIP kit will mate to the Black wire on the Big Dog harness.
I understand you will be communicating with Jason this evening so he should get you straightened out.

Yeah I hope it all gets straightened out I will keep all of you posted and maybe this will help a lot of bikers if they change to ehc rip eventually

:cheers:Ok so me and Jason talked and got the wiring straightened out, miss pin on the harness not a big deal. Turn the key on hit the run button 2 times then the start nothing happens, no blinker, and no break lights. Check to make sure there are no bad spots on the wire just inside the handle bars everything is in good shape. Took the PCB out of the housing and tried everything once more still nothing. Problem... PCB is bad... Good news though Jason will send one out to me in the morning for the trouble. The guys from Kansas Motorcycle Works are great people to do business with and I highly recommend them for most of your motorcycle needs.

Will post more as soon as the new PCB comes in.

It would be great to have a wire/pin information for the RIP unit. This info would include pinout diagram, pin number, name and its control function info. This way we can figure out what's going on with any future issues. Public release of this info should not infringe on any proprietary RIP EHC design.

What PCB are you talking about?

The right hand control PCB.. The missed pin that we are talking about is for the right hand control the orange with white strip is suppose to mate with the black wire coming of the BDM harness. In my case the red with white stripe is connected to the with the black wire, when is should have been orange with white to black and red with white to orange.

Bryan,

I would be VERY interested in finding out once you get your RIP replacement EHC install up and running if the speedometer RESET (needle swing to vertical) happens at key ON and again after starting.

The BDM speedometer reset was to correct a malfunction of the BDM speedo after starting due to a low power condition at the speedo during startup.

I would also like to know if the LOW FUEL led and the SERVICE ENIGINE led properly function on the EFI bikes.

There is no speedo sweep reset on the RIP kit. Actually there are no aftermarket replacement options that do that. We did that as a software patch to the EHC's for the autometer speedos. If your battery was in a marginal range and the voltage pulled down to low during the start cycle it would cause the controller in the speedo to lock up and not register speed.

As for the low fuel light and the check engine light on the EFI bikes, those functions work as normal like the did with the original Big Dog wiring system.

As for Bryan's kit with his bike. It was a single mispin on our behalf. We helped correct the issue and I hope he would agree that we made it right with him. His pcb should be to him in 1-2 days. As for technical support we are always available even after hours. I was assisting him over the phone well into the evening and will always make myself available for tech support anytime, 7 days a week.

As for releasing any drawing or schematic information at this time, nothing is planned as of right now to be released since our I/O's mate with existing, known Big Dog I/O's, however as stated just above, tech support is available anytime 7 days a week.

Ohmster,

Thanks for the spot on answers. Marginal battery voltage is always a problem but the product sounds solid.

No problem. Always here to answer any questions that we can. Either through the forum here, through pm's or through our direct line here at KMW. I'll happily hand out my personal cell # to anyone and can be reached anytime.

Ohmster I definitely agree that y'all have helped correct this issue and greatly appreciate the assistance on the matter, also the fact that you took out of your time to help the situation.

Ok my PCB arrived yesterday changed it out with the old one. Hit the run button and then start... She fired right up. Changed the oil and the plugs all that's left is to adjust the throttle cables and everything should be ready for the weekend ride. I wanna thank everyone that posted on this thread giving advice and some insight. Thank you thank you:cheers::whoop::2thumbs::roll:

Hello all: Any current updates on the RIP performance? I am considering going with the RIP for my 04 chopper, any info sure would be appreciated. I have a new PDM for it that I bought about a year ago, I started to install it but when I seen where I had to put the cheap painted holder for the box I decided to wait for something else to come out. It sounds like this ( RIP ) will be a good way for me to go..

I haven't installed mine yet but, I will say that Jason and Matt will stand behind their product. After all the debate about misplaced pins when they first came out I sent mine back to KMW and Jason has built a bench tester to test these systems for that problem. They tested and returned mine at no charge. Thanks again Jason..:2thumbs:
