I would think if you have a business and this happens, that you should have insurance for these fraudulent cases, but I don't have a business, so I'm not sure
I think they might give more resources to their "Power Sellers" for this type of activity.

Now I've had one run in with eBay and fraud and as nature would have it was probably one of the most expensive things I sold on eBay, only about $600 so not what Bill has in value. Anyways the guy was a zero rating but he sent me the money on the buyitnow auction so I didn't care. I shipped the item, with tracking obviously then a few weeks later he claimed to eBay he never got it. I spoke with eBay and they saw I had the tracking information which stated it was delivered and I also furnished the review the guy gave me which said "Great Ebayer". Anyways they tied up my money for about 3-4 weeks but I ended up on the right end of the stick as the seller.

Bill, stick to your guns about the coin. Sounds like you should be able to furnish the proper information to eBay to win that one.

On another note I did just sell something worth about $100 and the guy had ratings and never paid. Opened up the case on eBay and nothing they can do other than not charge me the sellers fee. Gee ya think?

On Ebay/Paypal, if you claim the seller sent you a defective/not as described item, in your claim you must furnish a tracking number demonstrating that you sent the item back and that the number has cleared as delivered. What I got back instead of the item sold was an empty envelope with a tracking number, so I got screwed. As both a buyer and seller I do strongly support their policy of protecting the buyer over the seller. I've got screwed more as a buyer than a seller. Ebay is driven by consumers.

How do you guys feel about feedback......I won an auction and paid the seller in less that 30 minutes......I emailed the seller and asked that he give me positive feedback for making quick payment......he emailed me back and said that he would leave me positive feedback only after if left him positive feedback first......I responded that I had full filled my obligation by buying his item and making a quick payment and he should leave me positive feedback for that. He never responded

Sorry to hear about the bad luck Bill. I hope you get it all panned out. I've never had issues using Ebay and I don't sell things. Most of my transactions are buying and that's from Bigdogpartsking.... They're the greatest...

That's not true. Twice now a buyer said not as described and they gave them their money back without even letting me know. Both times the buyer kept the item. I never got a chance to defend myself. The only way I knew was Paypal sent me a notice of refund.

I think I'm going to win the coin dispute because he didn't open a not as described case but a report buyer case and they have the listing to see it said random year. I told them this morning I'm not selling or shipping the bike so sue me....

Here's a pic of the completed bike

If everyone who bought from me and everyone I bought from left me positive feedback I'd have 5,000 feedbacks instead of 1290. I don't know what's so hard about leaving feedback but some won't do it. I do hate that sellers can't leave neg. feedback for a buyer. I've had people screw me around for weeks before paying me and all I can leave is positive feedback for them. That's not right.

I got jacked for Formula 1 tickets a few years back. I offered overnight shipping as an option that the seller declined. He got the tickets because I hand delivered them after footing the bill to have them over nighted back to me, and eBay gave him all his money back... and he went to the race for free.

Bill sorry to hear about all the problems, that sucks! Ebay has really gone downhill over the years especially with all the fees.
I've been pretty lucky so far but I usually dont buy/sell big ticket items. I have gotten hosed by a couple 0 feedback buyers which is why I now always put in the description that 0 feedback buyers must contact me before bidding to make sure they are serious, if they dont contact me first, I cancel the bid, seems to help when you make them jump though some hoops. Whenever I buy or sell vehicles I always I use Craigslist, and only deal in face to face transactions. Craigslist is also a pain in the ass to weed out scammers, but I've learned what to look for.

Good luck getting it all sorted out!

I think eBay lets you list it for sale "for local pickup only" . I wonder if that's an option in the future? At the end of the day it would be free advertisement font tell eBay you sold it

I bought my K9 I saw it on eBay noticed it was the next city up so went and looked at it and seller removed the listing. Win Win

:old2: I have used CL many times, that's the way I would go:old2:
Me too and I usually sell the item within 3 days but the bike has been on there for a month with no interest. The guy showed up today and loved the bike but wants to trade a pickup truck plus cash. I don't need a pickup... Back to square 1...
