Dyno Numbers

Took my 07 K9 to have the 2500 mile service today and have it dynoed.I will get it back tomorrow. Just wondering what to expect as far as the dyno numbers. I have done the following mods. 600 S&S cam, new springs, heads ported polished and flowed. XXX chrome carb, S&S single tuned bore air cleaner and Vance and Hines Big Radius pipes with thundermonster baffels.

I dynoed mine a couple months ago and it was 97 hp and 112 lbft. .600 cam K+N, Big radius with full baffles. I think the baffles made it go rich up top or a lack of air from the stock size K+N.Supposedly uncorrected and it was int the 90's at nearly 3000 ft. I have since dropped the main jet .002 and removed the baffles. It's got way more top end than it did at the time of this dyno run. I have a feeling the horsepower numbers have increased substantially but the torque may have suffered a little. I'll probably get back out there one of these days for shits and giggles. Post your dyno sheet.

Just got the bike back. I am disappointed and I don't quite understand everything they told me. I got a printout showing HP only. It shows on the horizontal line MPH instead of RPMs. They told me they couldn'tr do Torque and A/F! He said their softrware is out of date. The good news is that asuming the information is accurate, the max horsepower was 120

120 Horsepower is great. Without seeing the curve in regard to rpm it's hard for me to make a decision on which way to go. What jetting did you end up with?

man, vegas i would think you could get more power then that, i dynoed 113hp and 119lbs. with a full stock setup, only change was to martin bros daisy cutter exh. with no baffles, and stock size k&n filter.

my old mans runnin 108hp and 125lbs with stock pipes drilled out and a d&m air filter. everything else stock.

I think Sul is closer to the truth. IMHO.

120rwhp isn't easy to get out of these bikes at all. If they can't even give you a regular dyno output, I'd ask for my money back. Esp. if you felt confused when you left.

Also, you have a really nice set up from what you've described; however, 120rwhp is a lot of ponies. If that is true, you probably have one of the, if not, the fastest motorcycle in the forum. :)

Those numbers look pretty exaggerated to me. Not saying your lying about the numbers but I doubt your dyno was accurate based on other dyno graphs I have seen. Keep in mind we did no tuning it was just a snap shot of a hot Las Vegas summer day at 3000 feet of elevation. A 124 S&S on the same dyno only made 109 hp and 121 ftlbs on the same dyno. He had it calibrated shortly before our runs. It's no secret that dyno numbers can be mistrued very easily by the operator to make the client happy. A reall S&S 117 with more compression is supposed to be around 117 horse and low 120's on torque. You take into account drive train loss and you see where I am coming from.

mine was done before my dealer (Full Throttle Motorsports) delivered my bike to me last Feb. This is full stock set up with V & H BR pipes with full baffles....
going to re dyno after I do the cam and a few other things....

Why the big difference between the same engines

I bet in many cases what you get for HP and Torque depends alot on how it was broken in. Case in point, my 2005 FLSTF 88" was upgraded to a 95" (non-hd parts) along with other items which is a set price from a local builder who did the bulk of upgrades for our local HD HOG chapter. I ran the shit out of mine straight out the door from the dealer as this is how I drive. On a calibrated dino my TC-95 hit 101.1hp and 99.7 ft/lbs of torque. Three other friends I ride with day in ad out with the same motor and year had the same exact mods done at the same time and mine beat them all by up to 21hp and 18+ ft/lbs of torque.

All four of us had a dino done prior to the upgrades and all were pretty close about 68hp and 70ft/lbs - mine was 71/73.

The dino runs were all done after our 500 mile break-ins and within a few days of each other so weather, temp ..etc was the same. So why?, We covered this in a thread sometime back about how you run it when new goes a long way to determining what power you end up with.

Comparing riding styles I was far more aggressive - shit on the way to BikeToberFest I was running with sport bikes over 115mph plus on the dog. I ride the dog the same as I rode my harley and after the 2500 mile service it will go on the dino and then comes the mods.

The parts in our engines are the same, they are built the same, the tolerances are the same - so what is the root cause for the variances. I swear its the break-in as does my engine builder that this contributes more than one would think in determining the power we end up after 2500 miles.

It would be interesting to compare results with so many having the same engine along with the mods done. Granted this may be too much to ask for given variances between dino's, its current condition and calibration will certainly come into play.

Yeah Slow.....I hear ya.....
I did mine right out of the box...being that my dealer put the pipes on...and they said they have done them brand new and broken in.....so....after I do the cam and carb and air filter....I am going to have them re-dyno my bike....
I didn't think my numbers were that bad.....being stock....

Lots of things could affect your the initial readings .. plugs, gas, weather .. calibration of the equipment ..etc. If you want fast, get a supercharger or better a new stock sportbike, which start off with 180+ hp, there was one on the discovery channel that hit over 500hp. We have lead sleds in comparison, granted faster than most all Harley's but no where near a sportbike. There is no way in hell I am riding mine past 120mph to see what parts start flying off! .. On a sportbike 120 is nothing. I want mine to run smooth and deliver the meager power it was meant to. oh, and sound like a thunderstorm!

shit our bikes are pretty fast with the right amount of work done to them. They will take a sport bike off the line for a while. It will definitly make you feel good!
