Current pick for Best Open Primary?

Happy thanksgiving guys...

I'm thinking of going with an open primary.

What do you guys think is the best option these days?

Pros and cons of your system?

I'm looking for something with a solid clutch that will handle a 124" if I go that route in the future. Something not prone to slippage.

Also something nice and clean that doesn't show any rust.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

I am guessing you cant beat a Baker but just too many Dollars. I've been looking at the Rivera Brute Extreme 4 and it looks like a nice bit of kit and a lot less Dollars, I have seen a few guys on here with them and I've seen no issues with them yet.

Does that fit an 08 k9? Probably not... right side drive

Oh yes you can! Go look at BDL open primaries with a Lock up clutch! There is no slipping!!!!!!

We had the karata belt drive on our ridgeback with 117" and had nothing but problems without the external bearing support they offer, it destroyed the clutch pack & basket after only a few thousand miles without it, So plan on investing an extra $1000 if you go the karata route. This is what will happen if you don't.

has anyone ran the karata without that bearing supoort and just the cone shaped caps? We put 15k on it with the support and never had an issue whatsoever. Nice primaries everyone!

Call me stupid, Jonathan, but I'm not seeing these for BD RSD applications on their site. I did put an email in to them, though... have not heard back yet.

When I looked and studied open primaries & clutches. I had the same questions. Everyone said use the Karata and the Baker. When I started looking hard into the big HP bikes I found a page on Harley drag bikes. Even the Nitro class 99.9% run BDL drives with lock up clutches. This told me 2 things. #1 they make a quality product, #2 this product has no problem handling HP! Like others have said. The bearings break, ect. ect. If the BDL can handle 400-600HP it can damn sure stand up to my little 108hp V twin!
