Current pick for Best Open Primary?

Just got word from Gina Marie Longo (Jim's daughter)... no more Karata... done deal. :-( I tracked her down on FB.

I'm thinking... not sure I want to go the Baker route anyway. They say on the site that it is only rated for 120 ft lbs which I am getting with my .585. I want to go to a bigger motor at some point, so I'll just blow that thing out when I do.

Anyone know of any High-torque wet clutch set ups that work with the DSSC Big Dogs?

It really sucks that no one makes any shit for our bikes anymore. Seriously blows.

BDL does not make a belt drive for those of us running a DSSC set-up. There's an old thread on the site when I put up our options some time ago. Baker and Tauer Machine are the only ones that I know of that makes an open belt drive system. I don't know of anyone running an open belt drive from Tauer Machine. I do remember one member saying he was going to try the open belt system from Tauer but haven't heard any word if that went through. I don't think it happened!

The only way you can get a BDL to work is if you swap out the baker trans and the starter to different brand brands. I know of one member on here that bought his beautiful Ridgeback with this set-up and it looked sweet. Here's the trans he was running in order to get the BDL to work on his 300mm RSD:

So, right now it looks like Baker is the best choice! Unless you know of someone running the Tauer set-up...

Thanks Brew. I saw that Tauer.., the Hellhound, but I am afraid to try something with no reputation. I don't think I can throw down to change over the whole set up.

Yeah would be an expensive venture. I do wish Karata was still making them for our bikes. I do like his belt drive, been running a 4" belt drive on my Mastiff for 4 years now without issues.
