Do you know what they did for the design change and when they made they change?

I had a new cable installed last year I wonder if mine has the new design????

I have a spare that I got 2 months ago since I'm at 7k on my
2nd cable which is where my first one broke
the change was the clutch & soft pull unit that the pound went to in the 08/09 bikes!

The first one I broke was in the summer of 08 at 5000 miles and the second one was last week at about 14,000 miles. Whats up with the clutch cables.I don't do any dag racing no power shifting and no droping the clutch. I don't know what gives.

Have refused to answer this poll because I didn't want to jinks myself. Well I finally get to summitt to this poll. Last night was riding home and clutch cable broke. Have around 19,321 miles on bike. It broke at the handle. Thinking of putting a Barnett Platinum Plus Series on. Anyone have this kind of cable, and if so do you know what # to order out of JP Cycle? Thanks

Mine was clicking at the handle when fully pulled, not immediately all the time but sometimes. Seemed worse after replacing the clutch at first then went away completely. Either the weak strands finally broke:eek: or finally the burr broke in, whatever that means:eek:. I just know it's gonna suck when it happens.:(

not enough time 4 riding
Snapped mine today with just over 6300 miles on it. Managed to get into a residential area and get it stopped. Already called Full House and added it to the work to be done next week.

Hi,

Are you saying the easy pull clutch makes the cable last longer?????
they went to 9 plates in the clutch instead of 12, the pull on the clutch is less, so the load on the cable is lower!!
key to this problum. is to make sure the lever & bottom ends don,t bind while moving this is what brakes the ends off!:zz2cents:

I just broke the clutch cable on my 06 ridgeback. I called Barnett, they can make me a new one but I was wondering if your replacement was OEM or something else since it's lasting so long? I appreciate the information.

clutch kit?

I am on my 3rd cable in 18000 miles. Is there an ez-pull kit available for the baker on my k-9? I am assuming that this would involve changing the cam pulley on the push rod in the tranny side case. Also, if there is such a beast available, does it accept the existing cable or do I have to go to a different length cable?

Both are OEM which is Barnett I believe. Last one is still going strong. I sometimes (all the time) worry about it when I'm on long trips. I should have a spare in the bag.

First 50
06 K-9 5000 miles and I can now officially change my vote from:

"in neutral with the clutch out and haven’t broken a clutch cable yet"

to

"in neutral with the clutch out and still have broken a clutch cable"

Oh well, I got about 3500 miles on my second cable.....Limped home 3 miles in second gear.....I lubed it regularly, too.

Ordering two today....gonna keep a spare handy so any downtime is minimized in the future.

Almost at 10.000 miles with the original Cable :2thumbs: However i did just pick one up on E-Bay for a replacement when it is needed..

I've got over 13,000 miles on my original cable. Was thinking about changing it out, but if some of the new ones are breaking too, I think I'll just ride and hope for the best. :D

Broken clutch cable

At around 12k miles, the clutch cable ring at the lever snapped in half while shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. Otherwise, I almost always go in neutral at a stop light.

I contacted Barnett. They do not have a part number. I believe the only part number is Big Dog's part number when you order from them. Barnett asked me for a measurement of the cable. However. Call Biker's Dream Atlanta. I think they have some in stock. 74 bucks plus shipping.

I was riding to base/ work today, and mine snapped while I was coming to a stop. My 06K9 had only 7K on it when I bought her. I had just put about 2K on it when it got me today.... I was thinking about limping it back home, but I wasn't sure how safe it would be to do so. Not gonna try today because I'm already too pissed off behind calling the insurance agent for roadside assistance...
