Some of you may remember my remarks that the clutch was "out of adjustment", and the lever had much more play than I had noticed previously. I figured I'd look at it at my leisure when I got home. Well...........100 yards before our 1st gas stop on the way home today, the clutch cable just let go. Eric saw my motion so he pulls over and gasses up.
I called roadside assistance, then they realized there's nowhere to go. Then we google U-Haul and find one that's open only 10 miles away. Eric took me there, waited with Susan (back at the bike), and waited for the eternal rental process to complete, and then helped me load the bike. The tie-downs worked like a champ - bike never budged. And that's with a van that was as loud and rough as the chopper, and freeways that look like they run through a warzone. I-40 and US 69 are complete atrocities. I'm so happy Eric did not try that !!
I'm eternally grateful to Eric. But I was really distraught when a fine mist appeared just a few miles after we loaded. I knew we were trying to beat the impending storm accompanying the cold front. Thankfully there was only a few more seconds of mist, and we all stayed dry till we got home. Eric thankfully made it home before dark.
Thanks again Eric !!

Well glad you made it home safe and I guess you'll be shipping back a jacket huh.lolOh and don't want to muddy up my other post with non factor crap.
Yep I got home around 2ish today, no problems. Had to pick up the dog from the boarders which was full in my town so had an hour road trip drive and then ran to the grocery store since I didn't eat a damn thing to eat all day, which was kinda on purpose. We ate like kings all weekend.
Was passing by Heckerts place and I missed the opportunity to stay there Wednesday night as planned. So got to hang out with a bigdogbiker mileage king and finally got to meet his lovely wife and heck even went out to dinner with his daughter and 3 of his grandchildren! He showed me around his town and his shop where he plays on his toys. Left this AM and it was a warm 50 degrees and I think hit a balmy 65 by 2pm. Cold was nothing as I stole his heated jacket and gloves since I didn't think we would see those temperatures! I learned from him and Rick the spoils of that tourmaster heated gear but it wasn't doing me a damn bit of good sitting in my closet.
Wind sucked, 20-30 mph crosswind or headwind.
Headwind was worse, crosswind was fun passing 18 wheelers since it was coming from the north. Had a brief second of no wind then wammo! To the left you go!
