Ok, Another update.

After arguing with the claims department, and having them talk to baker.

I am approved for the claim. So now I have to deal with the settle ment adjuster. but I am told thats the easy part, getting it approved was the hard part.

Debating telling baker to finish up, and put it all on my dime, and that way its back together in the bike sooner. and then once settle ment is worked its already done..

Just dont want them to back track to way less money or something stupid.

I mean you need it fixed regardless, I think baker buttoning everything up and returning it to you is fine. This is between you and UPS, I would show them the bill from Baker who is the manufacturer of the transmission can't really quibble with the quote...

However....You were sending it off for maintenance so theoretically they may only cover the additional damage. But you should be able to throw a few extra things in there that the damage added too :2thumbs:

Update.

I received the claims paperwork, and sent int he replacement cost, and repair cost. and where to send a check. so hopefully that will be done soon. and to the full repair amount.

Baker shipped my tranny back, and it comes in today via. UPS. haha.

Everything addressed, new case, polished up chrome, N1 Shift Drum (pretty excited about that). Will go into more detail after claim is 100% done, but it should be good to go for a long time now.

Fluids and gaskits at home waiting for install.

New one peace Clutch basket, new bearing from Rivera Primo are in and bearinig pressed in with inner basked pressed in as well.

so tomorrow I should put it all back together.

Well fuck... Got tranny in all aligned with inner primary..chain drive sprocket back on, exhaust bracket back on, church cable installed back in outer cover...... Everything on that side....The new tranny uses a slip fit primary bearing. So I had to remove the old bearing from the inner case.......bearing is seized in whole inner case cracked instead of bearing coming out.........

So waiting on a new chrome inner primary to install now....

Don't take this personally Harley but I'm glad I live about 4 states from you. Seems like you are having some crappy luck here lately. Hope you get it sorted out soon as it's warming up quickly

that sux. hopefully the new one will at least be an improvement over the old one.
Un fortunately, there is nothing to improve on.

My inner primary was not beat up, chrome was good, and all was there.

its just a cast peace so literally just a = replacement.

OK......

So the reason the inner primary broke, there is 2 SNAP RINGS..... that hold the inner primary main bearing in place.

I pulled the inner one out, and figured I would just push on the seal, and the bearing at the same time, and push both out... and the case broke.

What I was un-aware of, there was a second snap ring between the outer seal, and the bearing. I could not see it, and it did not look like it. It seamed as though the outer seal was held in buy a lip on the inner case, and the bearing was pressed to the seal, and then a snap ring. BUT this is not the case. seal is pushed in from the outside, and stops on the hidden snap ring. The bearing is pressed in from the inside to that same snap ring, and then the inner snap ring holds it from that side.

So, new inner primary from Rivera Primo came in, it does not include the starter bushing..... I got new bearing, and seal and both snap rings in place.. Extracted the starter jack shaft bushing, and pressed it into the new inner Primary since it did not come with one (I had to clean up a bur or two, but its only used when starting and seams fine). BUT the damn start jackhshaft seal, does not fit. it does not match the old one either.

After lots of research, Rivera Primo sets a 49 dolla kit for the inner primary, and it includes, aHD part they buy and add to there kits.. so Now i am going to hopefully pick one up from HD this afternoon. and can install the inner primary finally.....

12053A is the correct inner primary seal for a Rivera Primo left side drive 89-93 Evo style.....
looks like this

SO picked up seal thursday, Planned to install it all that night.

get primary up, and start to test bolt it to it, and I cant get the starter bolts to thread in,... So I pull it back off.

Cant figure out whats up, then test the 1/4-20 outer primary bolts, and those don't work either. So I am stuck at this point. Not happy, pissed off to say the least.

Call in sick to work Friday, chase down a Tap and Die, chase all 12 outer primary holes, and 2 starter holes., and also figure out the hole for the stud on the tranny is to small so I drill it back out too. Basicly they did not plug the holes when they had it chromed......

Primary fits right on, No alignment issues, install all my new parts. and fire it up...

Saturday I adjusted chain drive, and test drove expecting to have to adjust clutch, but I have it set up good from the get go.

Put about 80-100 miles on it Saturday. Everything worked as planned, N1 Patter is awesomely easy, all shifts where smooth. Sure do like this bike! ha

Also I order a Battery Tender Jr, and installed the hard wired part ont he bike, and my new Lightning start 500 CCA, battery will be here this afternoon.

I still have trouble understanding the crappy bearing part as my trans bearings have withstood 50,000 plus miles of shit that I have thrown at them and no failures.
I haven't gotten to 5K mls yet and have replaced an engine case and pistons and crank due to pinion shaft breaking, and now this Trap door bearings shot. I do not dog my bike at all and to be exact have never gotten all the way into it mainly from fear of breaking something else. I know this is an old post but still pertains to me with an 03 Mastiff
