Oh yeah. My original al rig was bolted straight to those motor mounts (I will call them that for the sake of the convo) no adapter spacer or anything like that

So here is my theory.... Looking at the pic, it looks like one of the bolts snap-off in the hole and instead of fixing it took your motor bolts out and put longer ones in. Drilled the VR holes bigger and bolted it there. If you want to make it right... You will need the 2 spacers and need to fish out the broken bolt. Clean the threads, blue lock-tite and, bam, bob's your uncle.

Mr. Wright

Knows some things
Looks like their on top of it. Give me a call tomorrow and we'll see if we can figure out a mounting bracket

Thanks for the photo @roadie1389 , now that I know what it SHOULD have looked like. I'm taking another look at the location with fresh eyes. It makes me a little nervous about my stator job because I replaced it excactly how I found it, so hopefully they did THAT part right

No problem. I've actually come to enjoy your posts. It's like a Big Dog soap opera, and I can't wait to see what's next.

Guys! GUYS!!!! I mocked everything up. Turned the key and hit the button and it went GLUG GLUG GLUG. fkn FANTASTIC. I'm gonna swap fluids and the ol girl should make the block tonight!!! BEYOND stoked!!!

I attempted to upload a video. But the BEAST LIVES!!!!!!! after swapping the STARTER; VR, STATOR/ROTOR; TACH and EHC she turned over and idled like a demon possessed (in a good way!!!)
NOW she deserves a bath. I can't thank you guys enough. I was really reaching the end of my rope. While I realize I am probably on borrowed time with this EHC at least now I can at least cruise it around and show off a little. JUST in time for everything to start opening back up! @Mr. Wright @roadie1389 Eric is the man! (I couldnt find your handle to tag you) Ali, if your on here your a life saver as well. Shannon thanks for sitting with me on the phone and talking me through some of the more technical challenges.
Now to rout wire proper and get some tank mounts!!

Well lady bros and gentledudes; first attempt to start the ol girl failed. one time I was able to get an electronic *tick* and after that no signed of life. Tried to jump the solenoid to engage the starter, no dice.
This morning I took the solenoid cap off to inspect contacts and LOOKY THERE (pic below) I also noticed a piece of the plunger spring stayed behind in the housing (pic below) so I am left with no choice but to fully remove the starter and rebuild the solenoid internals. I'm still learning, so any tips or tricks in the physical removal of the starter would be greatly appreciated!! View attachment 72766View attachment 72767View attachment 72768
It’s really easy to take the starter off. Just two bolts with long extensions. Use a wobble extension. It will help with the weird angle. Your main ground and power cable are also connected from the battery to the starter. I rebuilt my solenoid. It was pretty easy.
