Like I said, the entertainment some run you around chasing stuff on your engines.Like I said before, it could be a bad lifter.
It is like telling someone the piston is scored, but the thought process of some, think the piston is only scored when it gets hot. You see that walk? Some other guys on here will tell you that if the lifter is bad, it will make noise at all RPM's...
When is that scored piston not the case then?... that's not necessarily the case.
Watch were the thought process takes us....You see if these guys knew anything about these motors, and if they actually had spent real time working on them, they would know this.
Then why go chase the screen? Did you bill that time to the customer and figure out the top end would be fried by now? Where is the first place the v-twin gets its lube? The top end. So the screen already made pressure to lift the ball to send oil to the crank, hello? LOL... Another easy thing to check is the Tappet screen. Make sure it's not dirty. But, I would think if it was the Tappet screen, more than one lifter would be making noise.
How can the complaint start after how long has the guy owned it? The tick is starting in now is it?Another question is, Have you owned this bike from day one? If not, it's possible someone messed with your pushrod adjustment.
I got the bike after it had been left out in the weather and had become about as nasty as you can imagine {snow and rain}. I spent the next few months polishing and replacing stuff. Seat recovered, speedo full of water, rubbed the finger prints off my index fingers rubbing billet etc etc. I put the wire plus on it when the EHC croaked after I had rode it a couple thousand miles. Most everything with the help of this forum. I think I am in the beginning stage of learning a lot more about this motor just like I have had to do with everything we drive around here. I really, sincerly, dislike getting the screws put to me by someone trying to rip me off. I know you all understand.Like I said before, it could be a bad lifter. That is still in the plans in a few weeks. My Daughter said she would ride up there with me on her harley. My work is fixing to really pick up in just a little while,, and when I have work,, well you know.Good deal Ray, I will still be glad to do the valve adjustment with you whenever we can get together to eliminate that as a possibility. Like Andrew said, could still be a lifter.
I would be right there and even pay ya for the fuel,, but wouldn't you know it it is raining in Tennessee. I ain't riding in the rain, well not if I can help it. My butt would possibly lose all feeling from my knees to my shoulders by the time I got to extreme northern California anyway. I am going to try to find some around here closer. They have closed down just about all the race tracksSwing by my shop Ray:lol:, i will fuel up your bike for ya for freeJust bought a 55 gallon drum of Sunoco 115 Octane leaded Race Fuel!!!! You will ride away and your bike will be happy:up:
I am running the prescribed air pressure on the Avon Tires and try to avoid rough roads as much as possible. I did run them a little below the presribed air pressure but really didn't see much difference. I want the tires to last as long as possible.LMAO...:lol:I hear ya buddy.....
Hey Ray have you experimented around with different Air Psi settings on your ridgeback.......I'am tryin to find the best tire Psi that will deliver the best ride for our ridgeback"s.....
Yep, I did clean the screen but it looked ok It was not crudded up at all, also clean tappet screen
