Shops do what makes the most $$....time usually. Tool on Amazon is under $40 and will last a lifetime.I'm a bit surprised that the motorcycle shop does not have the simple tool to remove the sealed wheel bearings.

Dang! That looks pretty nasty.Well sometimes no bearing puller in the world will work….especially when the guts of the bearing itself let go and leave just the outer race stuck. It can be a real pain in the ass to get that out. Hopefully your shop won’t damage the rim in the process. Good luck!

These bikes can be quite reliable. We have serveral members with over 100k miles. Its like having a sweet old school muscle car. You can drive it everyday as long as you do the maintence. Neglect her for a while, she gonna give ya problems. Sound about right?Been wondering now if I should continue to use this bike as my commuter vehicle, as it's been just a pain in the ass with numerous breakdowns and issues. I'm putting about 1000 miles/month on it for commute purposes.

You need to tell your shop owner to invest in a No-Mar tire charger and he could break the bead himself in his own shop…. I’m guessing you have a 300 on your bike. No-Mar is for up to 250 but I have seen it work on a 300.Dang! That looks pretty nasty.
The shop that said he could take my rear wheel to a place that does car wheels informed me yesterday that he took my wheel to two different places, and neither one could break the bead.
He said they removed the belt drive pully in order to try and get the bead broken, and found that the wheel bearing on that side of the wheel is also bad.
So, I'll be dropping the rear wheel off at the local Arlen Ness service place and have them deal with it.

Definitely wheel bearing debris. Wow I’m surprised you couldn’t feel or hear that long ago. Those bearings are 6205-16-2RS. Not to be confused with 6205-2RS. The first variant being not so common (6205-16) has a 1” bore, the second (6205) has a 25mm bore, and while super close, will not work. The -2RS just stands for 2 rubber shields, and for what we need that is all I have found. -2ZZ would be much better option in my opinion, where -2ZZ equals 2 metal shields. So if you find 6205-16-2ZZ I would like a link to them, but you’re looking for 6205-16-2RS. It takes 3 by the way.Pulled the rear wheel off from my 2007 K9 and this came falling out of the wheel.
