I can tell you it is definitely different. BD made a wise choice going to the right side drive. Right side drive is balanced better.
I don't notice any difference in balance...maybe when your just sitting on it but once it's rolling it's the same too me.

Actually with a 250 tire I can whip that bike around a lot easier than a 300.

Also the benefit to an 04 is you have unlimited options for transmission and clutch parts. The only thing on 04 in my opinion is you have you have to look for the fully polished engines, some have the satin finish on the bottom and it's just not as pretty. Actually some 05 have that problem too. I don't know why they went back and forth. Once you get rid of the EHC you are good to go. The 04 EHC if original is the absolute worst one there was a recall because the harness wouldn't even stay clipped in.

I thought it was still a baker.. what did they use in 04? That's great to know because I know my buddy who has a custom (that's the name brand) chopper, he claims he always leaning and when riding behind him I have noticed it over n over regardless of winds.. so I'm kinda curious before a big purchase ya know

2004 is a baker six speed typically but it's a standard Harley 6 speed anyways. Some 04's may have a Jim's Case and Baker guts. 04 was a hodgepodge year, either way they are interchangeable with any Harley part.

Basically any Harley softail clutch or transmission from the 90's will work. Ultima, baker, whatever.

The stock transmission in an 04 will last you a long time unlike the 05-07 models. No weak mainshaft to worry about or Clutch carrier and Hub issues. Or Voltage regulator fires..haha

Also any Harley EVO starter will drop right in so never have to worry about those parts.

Gaskets, bearings, etc are just Harley off the shelf if you need something.

Speaking of tires you'll get 15k easy out of a 250 size too. Whereas the 300 has about half the life.

04 are great bikes if your okay with the 250. Just an FYI the 04 Chopper is a little shorter than your k9 too, so I will admit they look a little more compact. My 04 risgeback and the k9 have the same length though.

I'm had something else and now I can't think of it.

If I didn't get a chubby everytime I see a 300 I probably would have sold the k9 by now and got an 03-04 chopper.

I'm looking at 9k for an 04 with 8900 on it.. good or just stick with 05 and u or right hand final drive??
There's an 04 on eBay or was for 6,500 about the same mileage. Went unsold! He started at 7,500 then 7000 then didn't even sell at 6500. Seller is just a town over from me.

Was a steal! However the bottom end isn't polished.. Just a slight disappointment.

Will be a LONG time before I'm in the market again unfortunately.

I'll have to keep my eyes open that's about what I can get for the nightster
Was a guy on here Mike that traded his in for a new Ultra. He got rid if the dog and the street glide and got an ultra in a downsize moment.

I rode with him a few times he would have taken 6 I'm sure of it as I recall that what he got in trade, so I'm sure he would have rather sold it to someone. And it was a nice bike!

:oldconfused: I thought you were saving up for new foot pegs. WTH:oldlaugh:
Not so much saving up as to I don't wanna drop that much money on foot pegs.. lol. I find good deals every now n then on ebay and that's what I'm kinda waiting for.. I'm a frugal kinda guy and don't get n e thing unless it's a damn good deal.. that bike I can probably get for 7500..

I don't think the pegs are proprietory so many will work:oldhardlaugh:but then there is the issue of having matching grips which to me is very important
Thats kinda why I'm looking for the full set of revolvers.. big dog has em for 599 for the complete set and shovelheadkicker (Donna and derek) had em on ebay for 399 and I was too late when I got around to transferring money to pay, it had eneded.. so I'm just patiently waiting..
