Here is an idea

I went to my local second hand shop/ Pawn shop. I got a great deal on an almost new 60 gal. 5.5 hp air compressor. Cost me 200.00 dollars. I expest to get many years of service out of this machine. They regulary go for 500.00 dollars. Just an idea.

I have a 35gal -5hp and I can run a cut-off tool all day with it, just a side note I would never buy a oil-less pump they are so much louder than a regular pump!! there are lots of compressors out there do a general search and find a couple that you like and post it on here maybe someone has one and can tell you more about it???

That absolutely makes a lot of sense. What I'm saying is that I definitely want to buy a quality compressor. I just don't want to spend more than I need to if I don't need that much power or that big of a tank. Bottom line - I don't want to buy any junk, I just don't want to spend a fortune on something that is so big that I won't use it to its full potential.

You are going to spend at lest 400+ to get a compressor that will run a air tool that uses a lot of air like what you want

Well......member plong got me wanting to get an air compressor so that I can shine my wheels up (see plong's thread titled "awesome").
Anyone got any suggestions?
I obviously don't want to spend a lot of money.

Keep us updated on how that compressor works. Thinking about maybe picking that one up.

Just used it to rotate wifes SUV tires today

Not HiJacking. Went thought the tires rotation with impact gun and filled up tires from 35 to 42 PSI and never kicked on. Loving it so far.

Yes I will post the garage when complete. Mudding is a Pain it the ass. Not texturing thats for sure. Hope to finish taping tomorrow so I can lay down the primer tomorrow night

PS This is the one I got at Lowes

Hmm. I may just pick it up to see what it'll do. The guy at Sears said that it'll work. If not just bring it back, no questions asked.

I sell compressors as part of my job and I would recommend buying an electric die grinder for you polishing. If you go cheap on a compressor you will be waiting for it to catch up and will have more down time than not. CFM is the first most important issue HP mean nothing. The second most critical number is tank size and I would HIGHLY recommend 30 gallon. You way ahead with an electric die grinder even though they could run tn the $200 plus range. A compressor less than about $500 would be a total waist unless you just want to fill up tires or use a nail gun. If you are hell bent on buying a compressor get one that is oil bathed. Don't be penny wise and pound fullish .
