I would hope there are other shops in your area that are more reputable to work on your bike. I also would put the word out to any and all friends, regardless of what kind of bike they ride, about your experience with that "mechanic" .. I have a buddy,(who has a shop that does excellent work) took in a H. D. that had recent work done to the heads at another shop. He hadn't started on it yet, and told me to walk around it and see if I noticed any thing. walked by the bike and the first thing that caught my eye was that the pushrod tubes were upside down and there was oil leaking from the rocker box gasket. I'd hate to imagine what the inside looked like.

I agree on telling people not use that mechanic.

The story you just told i had a similiar deal come to me recently...guy got ahold of me and said just spent 2800.00 on new cam, lifters and jetting...he said the bike run great for about 20 to 25 miles then all he heard was a rattle all at once and the bike died within 10 seconds...he said the mechanic told him it must of run out of gas and some other bullshit...anyway the mechanic jerked him around about looking at it for weeks...i said i will look at it but im not doing major motor work because of the turn around time as far as money goes on my end...anyway i popped the pushrod cover off and all the pushrods you could move damn near a full inch...i was like something doesnt look right with the jam nut...well he had the jam nut on the wrong side of the adjuster...they all came loose at once somehow surprisingly...so i pullled the pushrods and they where fine...popped of the rock box lid to see if it hurt the rockers....all was good once again surprisingly....i adjusted the pushrods and sent him on his way...

I know this has got from a carb to other stuff but i want people to really do some good checks on shops before they send them there bike or they will have issues like our friend here that started this thread has had....sometimes hauling a bike 250 miles or further to someone that knows more of what they are doing is well worth it in the end especially when it comes these Big Dogs

This thread is just one more example of the kind of folks we have here. Carlo, (Pitman), Comes to us with a problem w/his bike one afternoon, and with all the helpful input and suggestions from members all across the country, his bike is back on the road again the next day. Is this a great bunch of people or what!! Stay Safe All!!

Good deal! Did you check if the auxiliary vent plug was removed? With the air cleaner off, the carb is able to breathe through the main vent. When you put the air cleaner back on, it might be blocking the main vent. That's why they made the auxiliary vent for aftermarket ac's. That might be where the sluggishness is coming from. Those spike ac's aren't great performers, but it definitely won't run right if the main vent is blocked and the plug isn't removed.
I did today and it ran so much better no bogging down finally got to use the full throttle and it had power all the way through. removing that screw definitely made the difference I was looking for thank you

That's great! I'm glad we were able to get you fixed up! That's what this forum is for. The guys here are great and so knowledgeable. They have helped me many times. My only question now is if your jetting is correct. It was jetted with the vent plug in by a questionable mechanic. If it's running well, you are probably pretty close. Follow Knot's advice and the tuning manual to get it dialed in perfect.

I really appreciate everyone's help, you guys have saved me a lot of frustration. I absolutely will do what knothead said this weekend . I am still considering getting the dual intake if I can find one to fit . I think if the weather is ok I will take it out for a ride and give it a few miles like it is and adjust as needed. I will drop the bow and pull the jets so I know where I am starting at as the mechanic couldn't tell me and order a jet kit around that range. Thanks again all

I hope you're the one that broke that spark plug, because if it got broken when the "mechanic" was putting it in, you got screwed so bad you should be pregnant!! I hope you at least got a kiss while he was screwing ya!

I didnt break the plug maybe they dropped one and didn't inspect it before putting it in . but as stated I didnt even think to check them as they were brand new

The dual runner is great, but unfortunately S&S quit making them for the 4 1/8" bore engines. You might be able to find a dealer that still has one in stock. There are other alternatives that flow pretty well. If you like the spike and the bike runs well, then by all means keep it. It will just cost you some top end hp. Some guys are ok with that because they like the look. I can certainly understand that.

Yeah, that's the one. Some sites don't update their listing, so they may not actually have one in stock. If they do actually have one, I would get it fast. When they are gone, they are gone. S&S discontinued them.

Notice that it says - Special order which means its something they likely did not stock and as we know can not order now.
Your only chance is soneone ordered one and didn't take it or returned it (not real likely).
Good Luck.

Yeah that’s the same model. They have one specifically for EFI & one specifically for the SuperG. Ask me how I know… Either is really difficult to find any longer. Just don’t understand why S&S quit making them when there’s still demand for the model… Good luck on getting your Dog running GREAT!! :chopper:
