Front tire leak

I've done that once already..........but not much else to do.
I had my rear tire leaking not long ago. Took it off the bike and to the shop that installed it.
Fought to get the damn thing off and spent a fair amount of time cleaning it up -- the bead was really dirty, ended up using power tools.
Been fine ever since (maybe 5 or 6 weeks at this point)
the stuff on my bead was caked on pretty good and would have taken me quite a but of work to remove.
If you pull it again treat the bead like guys around here polish the rest of the bike and make sure everything is smooth and shiny.

Dont feel alone Brent. My Pit front tire has leaked since I've owned it. Is slow but steady leak. Takes about 3-4 days to bleed out. My problem is obvious tho. You can see the bend in the rim. I tried to move it a bit with a deadblow and did in fact make it less noticable, but it still leaks. One of those "oh well" kinda things. I just ck the air before every ride.

Have you submerged the it to find the leak?

Like others above, mine was a rim leak. sanded. cleaned added sealant and all is well now

Rideon makes a set of pressure sensors that light up if the pressure drops 4 lbs
I put them on the K-9 this year to keep an eye on things for me.
They self calibrate -- whatever the pressure is when installed is the setting -- 4lbs less than that and they flash!
So far so good.

Gonna pick up a set. Thanks Mike!

Slime and ride in do not work on bead leaks, which I verified is where it's leaking. And the shop that remounted it last claimed they cleaned it. Obviously I'm sure it could be cleaned better, but at least one pass has been made.

What do y'all think about the inner tube ?

Honestly Brent i would try to clean both wheel and tire very very good and try to see then if it will hold air before i would put a tube in it...some is a real ass to seal at times....i know you frustrated trust me i have had this happen several times but once i got it perfectly clean my problem was solved...only way it wont fix it is if your wheel is bent but i doubt your wheel is bent or you would proably already saw it.....have to be a noticeable flat spot in the rim for it to leak honestly

And do not use Slime, it will eat the aluminum. When I was down in Texas, our company sold a product similar to Ride in. We tested a lot of products like this and Slime was the worst.

I had a leak and i mounted the new tire early in dec 18, bike had a few long trips in 2019 after 4-5k miles it just slowly leaked. I broke the bead left the tire on the rim and reset it for Dave's in September and it held for weeks then leaked. That's when I took it off and the tire needed to be cleaned and rim. And i mounted it originally only 9 months before and wetsanded it then.

Good opportunity to polish the wheel!

What's the downside of a tube other than the ugly stem ?
I assume one downside would be if you got a puncture in the tire through the tube, that would need to be replaced. I ran a tube for several years without incident. Not sure about the "ugly" stem? Don't see a difference?

Update - I took it to the same shop that re-mounted it last time, about 4 - 5 months ago. They didn't want to use the tube, but then agreed they'd look at it first and then go from there. They took it apart and showed me pictures of HUGE corrosion. They also showed me "after" pictures where they said they'd spent 1 1/2 hours cleaning, and even polishing, the rim, and cleaning the tire. They also used bead sealer, so they were confident it would work. I couldn't believe they did not charge me a dime.

We speculated the corrosion was exacerbated by moisture from my air compressor, since I had been re-inflating the tire so often. But I found the drain plug on it when I got home that night and not a drop came out. ???

I know air compressors attract moisture, and I've seen traps/filters on some. Not sure how they work or if I can do that with the rinky-dink compressor I have.

How do y'all handle moisture in compressors ?
