Looking at the left side closer the base coat color is showing through the red but the right side not so much. I might be able to polish the right side out. On the left I took a piece of fined aluminum and cut it to the shape of the mark. Stuck it on there temporary, not sure what I think, thinking I don't like it.20190602_155124.jpg 20190602_155124.jpg 20190601_162654.jpg 20190601_162702.jpg

I like that.
Yea, I bet it would look cool! Not sure if that's a blue or grey Flame but I think it would be a little nice custom touch! Also could help if you can't match the red on the bike to show its not a stock piece

I think it looks good as is really

Round the corners over just a bit to help tie in with the swingarm. Just a thought

You could also make them a little bit bigger than what you need and do a stylized American Flag waving. I think that would look good.

Hey badyellowvette - Did you ever come up with a final solution you were happy with on this? If so, I'd really like to see it. I took my pegs off & there where deep scratches and scraped off paint areas that the brackets were covering. I did a quick search to see if anyone else had ever mentioned trying to cover the area & ran across your thread.

This is the chrome part that holds the oil tank to the frame on an American Iron Horse Motorcycle ~ LSC & Tejas. It measures 2 1/8 inch at the longest part, looks like a pretty near match. I can give you better measurements ( center hole to center hole, width etc. ) If you think it may work. Can also supply where you can purchase them.IMG_20220130_232312.jpg

That does look like it might cover the a majority of the area, and might work with a couple of flat head socket screws to look "flush". The center to center for the bolt holes appears to be 1-3/8".

Texas Mike. Without removing the bolts (PITA), I measure across the center of the top of the bolts. Closest measurements I get is 1 1/8" center to center. Hope this helps.

Turns out the areas I thought were "chipped" paint was some sort of build up that I was able to get off using a razor blade (carefully). There was some excessive coated areas, like others had described, and some deep scratches right around the bolt holes. After buffing the hell out of it, I used some chrome flat head bolts & countersunk washers to help cover the scratched areas.

I did eventually make a better-looking bracket and it turned out awesome I use the same type of material I will try to find a picture because the bike is put away at the moment.
