I'm in on a group buy of tires. Let me know who to call or what to do. I'd like to join the wolf pack if one has been started. I love this bike but the electrical issues, tires and ease of getting parts is wearing me down. I have contacted several "custom tire manufactures" and none seem interested in making them. My next effort will be investigating China for manufactures. Frustrating.

Wonder what the minimum order for Avon would be? Few thousand? Or hundered? Anyways more than Wolf owners would buy before the tires get too old I suppose.

SKOGDOG

One of the old ones.
I don't have a dog in this fight, but if had bought a Wolf, I would do the following:
1. Contact Bubblehead (Tim) to see if he can produce a list of names who have '09-'10 Wolfs. Those persons could be contacted to determine their interest in getting some tires made for the bikes. You can be confident that Avon still has the tire molds, and so it's simply an administrative decision to resurrect those molds and do a run. (BTW--we hope the corporate guys do not recall the vicious Forum posts re: Avon tires splitting).
Then find someone from this Forum who will step up and formally coordinate the project...it's mostly clerical--just a matter of organizing, communicating, and collecting data.
2. a.Call Matt and ask, in his opinion, might Avon be interested in a 'run' of these tires (not 250, but a 220/50-R20), and how many would be a minimum run for them. Matt will also know who is the person with whom to negotiate at Avon. I am very confident he would be happy to help in this respect.
But Wolf owners cannot ask Matt or Derek/Donna to organize this because a few guys call and want a tire. They both have businesses to run that is demanding of their time. Matt and Derek/Donna are highly motivated to support BDM, but it's not reasonable to think them responsible for organizing the solution to an issue which originated in another company 7 or 8 years ago.
b. Ask Matt what he needs to negotiate with Avon. If you locate 20 guys who would front $1,000 each for several tires, you'd have $20 large to bargain with. I don't know if that would be enough, but Matt would be able to advise. I do know if you promised me several Wolf tires for a grand, I'd jump on it....you'd think at $200 each, a run of 100 tires would be $20,000.

I bought two spares for my bike back when I got it in 2013, a front and a rear, and I keep them in my attic. I figured they would be hard to come by over time hence my buying them long before I would ever need them. I'm in for any group buy we can figure out, even the spares I have won't last forever and I don't want to have to stop riding my bike because it's got no tyres, that would be a crime.

I don't know what kind of attic temps get over there but if I was trying to keep the tire the attic doesnt sound good. I'd keep it in a closet in a conditioned space. Humidity and drastic temp changes can't be great for the rubber.

I would also put it in a vacuum sealed bag since your trying to keep it for more than just 4-5 years. Just being exposed to the air the tire will begin to dry out as the oils are drawn out.

They sell them only in sets of 4 maybe a few of you guys can split them up so it will only be like $25 a pop which is reasonable.

I ran a 12 year old tire that came on my low mileage 2004 and was an Avon Venom back when Avon made long lasting tires. On year 11 it looked new by year 12 it was all cracked and no longer felt that the integrity of the rubber was where it needed to be.

Because of the small quantity that it is sold I think it will be difficult to find pieces but it would be nice to found a group especially I know no one else in quebec city who has one!!
