Avon Cobra Tires for BD Wolf

I did some other calculations to see what this swap would do to rpms. I don't know what the wolf's final drive ratio is, but assuming 70 mph is about 2500 rpm, this would raise engine speed about 300 rpms at 70 mph. That's almost like losing a gear. You might be able to find a smaller rear sprocket that is similar to bring the rpms back to where they should be.

This may sound crazy, but if I owned a wolf, I think I would consider it. Has anyone thought about putting a car tire on the wolf? It might not be as crazy as it sounds. Roger Bourget used corvette tires on his bikes for years before they made fat tires for bikes, and they are much wider than the wolf tire. Also, I know a guy that uses a car tire on his gold wing. He says he likes the way it rides and it handles just fine.

I did some research. Pirelli, Bridgestone and possibly others make a 215/45/20. This should fit right on the wolf rim. They have a decent looking tread pattern. The total height of the tire is 1" lower than the wolf tire. This means the flat part is 1/2" lower than the crown of the wolf tire. This might provide enough fender clearance for the outer edges. Just an idea. If I owned a wolf, I might give it a try to see how it looks before I spent all of that money on the conversion.

It could be a good temporary alternative

I think I would try it. I know D&D are trying their best to keep the wolfs on the road, but the conversion looks a little funny to me. It would only cost you a tire. If you don't like it, then go to the conversion.

Now that the pit bull and the wolf both have an extinct 20" tire issue, and also knowing that we need 500 tire order, and knowing that everyone wants a wider rear on the Wolf, maybe we consider adapting both to same size tire so we have a much bigger universe to order the tire?? Maybe go 240/50 R20? (I don't think the 280- fits the Wolf swingarm/offset)

Going to the dark side, I hear it’s called. :p
we did toss that idea around. Don’t think boss man will do it though.

Roger that. I can understand. Maybe someone will try it. I don't know if it would look that bad. It would probably look like the tire on my Harley when it's about worn out. It starts looking like a car tire.

I know that even showing up with 100-200 tire order is likely to get us online. Hoosier even responded that they would help and this isn't even their core business. Add me to new list for 2-3 tires, and I will front a grand

I'll happily front a grand too, if it helps. Not to be able to ride these beautiful bikes for want of a tire would be just insane.
