EHC Module Problem?

I never bashed the Wires Plus kit... I dont have enough experience to say any kit is better than the other...although it seems to be a recurring theme of bad Customer Service...
I did fire the Dog up last night.. and let him stretch his legs on a 30+ mile loop today... I tried to post a video..but have to chop the size down, I guess....
Knowing what I think I know now.. one of the things that turns people away from the Wires Plus kit, is the JST connection aren't pinned...Correct??? If so, I would have rather went with a kit that I Pinned after I fed the Backbone harness...that it where I had the most trouble....due to the JST terminals....
The RIP kit could have had a little better instructions for dumb asses like mysef... but I can say it was basically plug and play...
I do have a couple of issues that have come up... My blinker indicator on the Dash has a dim light to it... and the RPM does not show any lights at all.... (the Tach is the first thing I lost power to when the Dog shut down)... I'll work on those issues shortly... for now, I needed some wind therapy...

Good to hear the dog is barking his way around the neighborhood again. The issues you are currently having are minor insofar as it doesn't shut down while doing 70 MPH in traffic. I don't were you learned that the Wire Plus Kit does not have Pinned JST Connectors. Mine did, All I did was cut the wire from the plug at the EHC, put a pin on the wire and soldier it for good measure, plugged it right in to the connector where it was supposed to go and wa la. Mine was a little more complex as I had to wire the two coil set up, Thunder Heart adjustable ignition module and Sportster style ignition key. The rest was easy. If todays kit doesn't have JST connector and pins then that is a problem. Customer Service I have only used once about 4 years ago when I got the two modules to have as extra other than that I am one satisfied customer.

I took the Dog on a 100 mile run today...and was very satisfied with it... it felt good to be in the wind again..

Maybe I ASSumed the Wires Plus wasn't a Pinned kit.. for the reason of hearing it wasn't a Plug & Play as a couple of the other kits are said to be..

I said I would post a video of the Dog first staring after the KMW RIP kit... I have never worked on a V Twin until I got this Chopper... and was able to do the installation relatively easy.
.. with a little help from Curtis due to me not knowing the difference between the Neutral Sensor and Speed Sensor... and had trouble figuring out what "C/B" was... and of course the Backbone harness was a pain in the ass, for me... I do wish the RIP kit come with a wiring schematic, because a few wires. wasn't labeled, for dumb asses like myself... but all in all it was a no problem, plug and play install... I definitely recommend the RIP kit to anyone.....
Thank to you all for the help and comments....
So here you can hear the Dog bark..

Nevermind I seen you said it was a previous problem.. Glad you got it done and running!!

Thanks Brother...No they aren't working... and I have a little back light on my blinker indicator... nothing major...just not right yet..... when my EHC went out, the the Tack light went out right before he died.... Now I'm wondering if I messed up the Speedometer through all this....
I'll have to do some studying on the Speedometer problem and look into a Dakota Digital when I can build the funds back up...

Many of you have probably already seen this, but we now have the baddest Big Dog EHC kit in the world, and we put it through the torture tests to prove it. Why buy some aftermarket rip-off when you can purchase the OEM kit that we use in the 2016+ Big Dog production bikes?

Big Dog is back, and the young guns that saw these issues under the old ownership refused to let it plague this amazing brand any longer. Now that the ownership and management is lead by one of those young guns, the ECH problems are completely repairable and will become an issue of the past.

We put this thing through hell... Check the above link for all of the torture test videos with shotguns, water, pressure tests and more. Then watch the conclusion video below to see proof that our EHC is nearly indestructible!

Will it hold up to a jump from a running vehicle? :oldconfused: This has taken some of the EHC's out in the past.
After a few mis-pinning issues at the factory, which we have resolved by hiring a 3rd party to test all new EHCs, we have not had a single failure to-date under any circumstances other than when we shot the brain box with a 12-guage shot gun in these videos. That includes jumps, water, vibration, and anything else you can imagine the hardcore rider putting our EHC RIP kit through.

Thanks for the question/feedback!

I just worked on a members bike that had the Gen I kit installed and his also has the dim back light through the blinker indicators. One other thing I noticed was his hi/low switch works different. You just push the low side to switch the beam from low to high beam. The high beam function on the switch serves no purpose. Took some time to get adjusted to that. According to the video, they corrected this with the Gen II...

I am impressed with the testing and installation of the RIP. I am too lazy to change mine out to this system, however should my Wire Plus fail me I know what to replace it with and who to call. Thanks for the videos :old2:

I believe the run/off button is different also, you have to hit run to toggle it back n forth
