Hi Folks,
some news from my garage. Almost 3 weeks ago i got a wire plus system and wanted to fix it into my bike. I thought about it again and i decided not to do. Problem is that i live in germany and we don't have any support here for wire plus or even Big Dog Performance. What will happen if the unit has a problem? Who could i ask? USA is far away.
I looked around what the german custom bike builder use in their bikes. Lot's of them swear on the "M-Unit" from "Motogadget". It works like an EHC but is bulletproof (what i know from some guys who uses this for many miles), is as big as a package of cigarettes, very simple to install and handle and has more features than all other EHC rebuilt systems, as for example: Alarm and progammable turn- brakelight funktion.
You can get it in USA from Spiegler USA for 320,-$

I installed it and now everything is working fine.
In mine opinion this is the best buy for your dog. Of course you have to do some wire work but you have to do with the wire plus system, too.
Some pics will follow.

Hallo Yellowjam, did you use the standard BD controls? Can you re-use most of the wiring or do you have to make new wires from controls, flasher-lights etc? Looking forward to see the pics! Have you spoken to Germanbiker about this?

Interesting. Compact, but the wire connections are too exposed to the elements.

Curious to find out what you are going to do for an ignition/ON switch replacement.

Also interested in what the plans are for the speedo idiot lights.

Looking forward to seeing your pictures.

I was thinking the same thing it says "absolutely waterproof". I'm wondering if they have some kind of plug that snaps into those ports? or a cover?

Looks like its got Brake, Hi/Low Beam,Left/Right Signals and Horn. Doesn't appear to maintain the dummy lights, what abou the tach/speedo?

If it's just the above seems pricey for what it does

"The m-Unit is a digital control center, either operated with push button switch gear or with conventional switch gear like Japanese or Euro-Bikes have" BINGO!

Yellow, thanks for posting this. I've been playing around my wiring and looking for a WP/EHC alternative. My WP blew two circuits which I've gotten around with latching relays, but I'd love to clean the whole thing up...and this looks promising.

Ordering one today. If nothing else it will be fun to play with.

After reading the manual, I think this thing has a lot of potential. All of our stock momentary switches will work. As far as the dummy lights and tach/speedo go none of that has to go through the EHC (and doesn't go through the WP). I would handle them the same as with the WP and put the dummy lights in series with the control they indicate. Once I get it in, I'll post a write up.

That is a nice looking unit. It looks like it would work just fine. Very similar to the unit I got for my 91 Sportster, albeit that one is a lot nicer.

M-unit will be in on Thursday so this weekend should be fun! I'll try to take pics and keep a log.

I like that m-lock as well Bubble, may have to add that down the road. The little "glass tube" key that can be sewn in is too cool. Would be fun to mess with people...especially drunk people... Just think "magic touch".

I've got the M-Lock, too. I know someone has it in his seat and the glass tube in his glove.... people are wondering when he does the magic touch. :)

Here in germany are some more products available like the M-Unit. (f-box for excample) Lot's of guys use them for their selfmade cafe-racers / streetfighter bikes. The Streetfighter Scene here is quit big. But only Motogadget is operating international.
