Ronson, If you need someone to look at the bike try Carter Fabrication I belive he is in your neck of the woods. They have serviced my bike since new for the original owner. Once I got the bike I had a question and gave George a call and he was very helpful and told me to call with any questions I had, seems like good people. The bike has not missed a beat in the year I have had it. I wish he was a little closer to me than the 100 miles he is.

Thanks I swear it's impossible to get these carbs dialed in. The mixture screw travels out too far so I put a bigger intermediate (33) and it back fires like crazy on decel. Seems like the decel popping is impossible to get rid of... and the screw still seems to come out too far. I'm wondering if I don't need a 34 but I would think bigger would only get me more popping.
Unless you have ported head, bigger valves, 0 deck on you cylinder, heads milled 0.030 and a big ass cam you can say the 33 is way to big for your dog. I have all of the above with 3-D sinful FSD pipes and more and I run a 32 and 78 with adjustable ignition thunder heart set at "E" and my dog runs great. Occasional decel pop depending if I want to wake up the neighborhood or be nice

you might check your carb and manifold and make sure all the barbs have a rubber plug on them...if mine starts decell popping badly it means ive lost one...just a thought...

All I have is the XXX carb, troublemanker exhaust and now the 585 cam. So it seems I will go back down on the intermediate. I have to wonder though, why is it that when I back the mix screw out to get the top end stumble for finding the mid point between top and bottom stumble, it's practically all the way out and still no significant stumble. I thought that meant lean?

The screw you are adjusting is for the idle metering circuit only...plays no role once you give it throttle.

the manifold and carb vaccume ports or connections...mine has 3. one has a rubber hose that ties into the heads...the other 2 arent used and have the rubber bullet looking blockoff boots on them...if mine starts backfiring or decell popping more than normal [and mine dont do it bad at all] i can bet ive blown one off and need to replace it...just a thought.

I'm gonna take a look, do you have any pics of the plugs?

Can't get this thing dialed in right. The 32 seems to give me too much fuel and the 31 leaves is rough and the occasional cough. It's almost like it wants a 31.5. I still don't know what those plugs are I'm supposed to be making sure are intact...
