HELP I think I broke my dog!

I did the 585 cam swap on my 08 mastiff and all seemed in working order. I took it out to someones' house about a half hour away then when I was almost home on the way back I started getting a lot of noise in the top end. Then the engine lost power started back firing, running real rough and the exhaust sounds way off. Did I crack a head or bend a rod? It was fine for most of the ride. The carb still needed adjusting but it was running good. Help me please:(

it sounds like your pushrods lost there adjustment....maybe the lock nuts backed off....re-adjust pushrods and give it a go

By any chance did you tach the motor up any. Reason I ask is because on my cam change, I found that the motor had some weak valve springs. I'm not sure if that could be a possible suspect

It's alive! ALIVE!!! Front intake rod lock nut let loose and the rod collapsed. It's weird but I felt the need to do that one again before I buttoned it up the 1st time. Readjusted it and she is barking again seemingly no worse for wear. Now to get that carb jetted and on point. Thanks for the help guys. Ignoramuses like myself would be lost without your invaluable knowledge. :flag:

I adjusted mine with this technique and no more ticking runs strong
That's a great vid. I don't have the quickie rods or easy start cam so I just used the one that was already on here. Same stuff though. I just didn't crank that one lock nut hard enough.

Thanks I swear it's impossible to get these carbs dialed in. The mixture screw travels out too far so I put a bigger intermediate (33) and it back fires like crazy on decel. Seems like the decel popping is impossible to get rid of... and the screw still seems to come out too far. I'm wondering if I don't need a 34 but I would think bigger would only get me more popping.
