shift lever question

I have a 2003 bdm chopper with 3" forward control extensions and when I am ridind and shifting through the gears the lever sticks in which ever gear I am going in a local shop just got done rejetting and servicing my bike and noticed it sticking and said I can take the assembly apart grease it up good and should be good it was only doing it once in a while this winter when I would ride when it was pretty cold now its starting to warm up here it does it all the time so I took apart the assembly and the 3/8" bolt that goes all the way through the assembly to the peg dont come out unless i.wasnt hitting it hard enough so I greased it up the best I could and put it back together and still sticking
My question is does the long bolt come out or are the bearings pressed on it and if so how do I change this piece out and any suggestions on where I might get the parts I can post pics soon if needed
Thanks mike

The bolt goes all the way through. No the bearing are not pressed in. What is showing on your manual?

Make sure the heim joints are good and free on the linkage. Spray them babies up with WD40

I couldnt find this in the manual they arent bdm they might be the same or close but wasnt sure I will take the assembly apart and get pics this time I put wheel bearing grease on all the joints hoping it would help but once I put it together same thing.
Thanks for the quik reply I will take it back apart and soak and soak it with wd
Does the bolt through the center come out so I can clean it up inside there or should I get it as good as I can I will post some pics to see what you think
Thanks again

It wont let me upload pics but took the peg off, the shift lever cleaned all the grease and put wd40 on everything putting it back together and still sticking is there something I can do on the tranny end I moved my linkage and seems fine till I connect it back to shift lever
Thanks for the help

a little thing to check, make sure the heim joints on BOTH ENDS of the linkage are lined up. if they are out just a little (more than a few degrees), they tend to bind up.

FREEDOM!!!
First off if you are lubing up shot heim joints it is a waste of time. Remove the linkage, front & back bolts out, and make sure you can swivel the heim joint bearing in all directions easily by hand. If not replace. If so and you still stick it could be your linkage is just adjusted a little too far. Reassemble linkage back on bike, loosen both jam nuts on heim joint threaded portion (1 is left hand thread!) and rotate linkage inboard 1 full turn. It's a turnbuckle system so you will shorten the throw a little bit. Tighten jams nuts and try it. See if it is better or not but first make sure you have completely free moving heim joints as mentioned before. Good luck!

First thought is heim joints. Check em to make sure they are free and not binding. Other than that see if they are adjusted correctly.

Ok apparently I was having a dumbass attack last night and shouldnt have had a wrench or WD40 in my hands. Anyhow I got up this morning took the linkage off and sure as hell the joints at one end were rusted and not moving freely at all I lubed them up cleaned and lubed again when I put it back together it works awesome
Thanks for all the input this board has helped me with alot of obvious things going wrong and made them easy to fix
Thanks for the input
