How To Install your Dyna Beads

Dyna Beads

Most of us get them from Low Down Chop Shop as described in THIS THREAD.

Many of us have got them and many are probably on the fence. But if you got them, here's how you put them in.


Grab your supplies

Cut the top off the applicator for easier pouring

Grab your bag of beads

Cut open the corner of the baggy to dispense into applicator bottle.

Pour into the bottle

Simply put that stuff aside and time to direct attention to the bike itself.

So I jacked up the sporty like so...

Remove your valve stem cap

Get your valve stem tool

Spin out the valve stem slowly allowing the air to leak. At this point you can either let it all leak out or pull it out carefully. Be sure not to go to fast and put your hand over it, while keeping pressure down on the tool and stem. You are trying to keep the valve from flying accross the garage.

Out comes the valve

Set this aside

Hook up the tube to the valve stem

Start to pour in the beads slowly. If they start to back up and won't flow into the rim like this read the next direction. If not skip over the next part for difficult bikes.

In some cases your beads may not flow in easily. My Big Dog was no problem the Harley was so I got to thinking outside the box sense I didn't have an engraver to aid me.

Loosen the valve stem nut holding it to the rim.

Attach the tube

Fill the tube and it will back up like before. But push the valve stem in and out shaking in the beads. You can fill the entire tube and then shake in. This worked great for both front and rear tires.​

Now once you have all your beads in, remove the tube. If you had to do the difficulty step, tighten the nut.

Re-insert your valve in the stem

Fill it with the proper air level

Check the pressure to make sure its right.

Now replace your valve stem cap

Repeat for the rear or other tire

Out with the valve

Fill and re-assemble and put the valve stem back on. Ride and enjoy a smooth ride

Do they just bounce around loosely till ya get up to speed or do they settle in place after a few miles?

They settle in to where they need to be starting at about 5 miles per hour. They really don't bounce around in the tire. They get a static electrical charge and roll freely in the bottom of the tire until you get to about 5-15 MPH.

Hey Gas, I have 8000 miles on my tires. Should I get these now or just wait till I get new tires? Are they for balancing new tires or will they help my exsisting tires last longer and ride better than they do now which isn't bad whatsoever at this point. Thanks, BBD

I think the actual website says they lengthen the tire's life. I got 6k on mine and they look great and figure... why not make the next 6k ride smoother and maybe last longer. Dude... you have no idea how much better it looks without the weights!!! Trust me... order some! Jake's site is super easy to use!

Should I simply just remove the existing weights and weigh them to be exact ?

Chris, I don't have any weights on my wheels at all . Do you think this will affect my tire balance since no weights were needed on my wheels? I'm all for getting longer tire life and a super smooth ride.

chops4life... just go to Jake's site. Buy the kit for the 250mm rear tire. Its only $10.50!!!! and it will only take ya 15-20mins to put in.

bbd... I haven't rode mine yet, obviously look at my phoenix thread. But everybody that has, loves loves loves them... I would do it anyway... like I showed above... its so cheap!

agreed - I never had any weights on my wheels either and it seemed fine but it does seem smoother with the beads and I believe my highspeed wobble may have gone - and as Gas says for the price you can't go wrong

For those that don't have weights already...should your install dyna beads or not? YES, for two reasons.

1. There's no guarantee that whomever mounted the tires to the wheels even checked them for balance. Some believe that if the little tire "dot" is aligned with the valve all is good, not necessarily correct.

2. Unless you're experienced and balanced your own, there's no guarantee your tire/wheel balance is accurate whether it was accomplished by the factory or aftermarket business.

Case in point -- One of my bikes is new with factory weights. Pulled the weights off and installed the beads. Guess what? My mirrors are clearer and have less vibration.

Gas Man provided some great install advice. One more I found worth while is to lift the bike off the ground on a stand so the wheels spin freely. If the filler tube gets backed up because you were trying to hurry the job, just spin the wheel 180 degrees so the beads fall back in the applicator bottle. Basically it'll take about 20-30 mins to do two tires/wheels.

Also note that when you remove your weights that are on your wheels, just because your bike has 2.5 oz. of lead doesn't mean that you have to replace it with that much Dyna Beads. My bike had 2.5 oz. on the front and I put 1 oz. in and it was perfect.

The application amount is all based on three things:

Wheel Diameter
Tire Width
Tire Overall Diameter

These three things put together will deturmine how many ounces of Beads are installed. Also if a tire is a bit more out that it should be, it may require one extra ounce to smooth it out perfect.

I have sold kits to guys with sports cars and street rods. I know for a fact that a couple guys were putting them in Corvettes. You just have to roll it till the stem is at 7-8 o'clock or 4-5 o'clock position for best results getting them in.
